Practitioner in Her 70s Receives Three-Year Prison Sentence in Chongqing City

(Clearwisdom.net) On January 28, 2005, practitioners Fan Defang and Yuan Suxian were arrested and sent to the Dadukou District Detention Center in Chongqing City. Yuan Suxian died as a result of the persecution she faced. and On June 9, 2006, Dadukou District Court suddenly held a hearing and sentenced Ms. Fan to three years in prison.

Ms. Fan, 74, is from the Longpo District in Chongqing City. She is a retiree of the Chongqing City Construction Industry Group Company. Her address is Xiejiawan Village, Building 2, Unit 1, 6th Floor, #2, Longpo District (an article on Clearwisdom.net dated February 12, 2006, contains detailed information about her persecution).

On February 8, 2006, after Yuan Suxian's death, Ms. Fan received a hearing notice dated January 20. The notice specified the charges against her and ironically listed Yuan Suxian as a witness for the prosecution.

After charging Ms. Fan, the Dadukou District Procuratorate postponed the hearing date from February to June. On June 9, the Dadukou District Grand Court suddenly held the hearing and sentenced Ms. Fan to three years in prison. She is currently under temporary detention in the Dadukou District Detention Center. Reports indicate that she will be sent to Yongchuan Prison after three more months of custody at the detention center.
