Canadian MP: Try All Possible Means to Increase International Awareness (Photo)
By Minghui reporter Ying Zi
(Clearwisdom.net) Canadian MP and leader of New Democrats, Jack Layton's
wife Ms. Olivia Chow wrote to Falun Gong practitioners on July 12, 2006, to
express that Canada must try all means possible to increase the international
awareness of the Chinese Communist Party's atrocities of trampling upon Falun
Gong practitioners' human rights. MP Olivia Chow said in her letter, "Thank you for sharing your grave
concerns about the ongoing human resources violations in China, in particular
the persecution of Chinese practitioners of Falun Gong." Olivia Chow said, "I want to reassure you that the NDP, indeed the
majority of Canadians remain committed to the pursuit of peace, justice, human
rights and the rule of law. Like you, we insist that Canada must have an
independent foreign policy that reflects these Canadian values." "As
you are no doubt aware, there is ample documentation by the UN and reputable
human rights organizations of these atrocities, among them the incarceration,
torture and death of many Falun Gong practitioners at the hands of the Chinese
government." This MP of the New Democrats said, "New Democrats have called on the
federal government to indicate to China in the strongest language possible,
Canada's grave concerns about its deliberate and calculated attack on Falun Gong
practitioners and its ongoing human rights violations against Chinese
citizens." She said, "If Canada is to maintain its moral standing in the
international community, we must do everything possible within our means to
increase international awareness of human rights violations in China. My
colleagues Bills joined in a recent press conference announcing a human rights
panel study on organ transplant." Olivia Chow said finally, "I urge you not to waver in your determination
to see justice prevail."
