Stay Vigilant, Have Righteous Thoughts and Take Righteous Actions
By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China
(Clearwisdom.net) A few recent events alerted me that always being on the
Fa with our every thought is not something that can be accomplished
by making a one-time resolution. Instead, it can only be accomplished by
studying the Fa well, being vigilant as a cultivator, and doing things with the
mindset of an enlightened being Not long ago, I purchased a printer. At that time, I thought I could carry
it, and that suffering a little for the sake of saving sentient beings was worth
it. Since the printer was quite heavy, I thought that I should take the local
bus to the end of the bus line and then try to get on a long-distance bus then
instead of walking to the long-distance bus terminal. Oddly, I waited for a long time on the side of the road but saw no
long-distance buses. Usually there are many buses along this route. Then I
realized that the last bus had already left. What should I do? The only option
left was to carry the printer to the bus terminal and try to catch a taxi. As I
walked with great difficulty along the road, I saw a bus passing me by. I waived
at it, but it did not stop. I wondered why I was having such a difficult time.
Suddenly, I realized that my thought of suffering for sentient beings was an
omission. The old forces took advantage of it, and let me really suffer. If in
the beginning I thought that I was a disciple of Master's, and asked Master for
assistance, the result would not have been the same. Just as I thought of this,
I saw a long-distance bus stopped by the side of the road waiting for me.
Sitting on the bus, I remembered a few other things that happened recently that
showed me my poor enlightenment quality. For example, just the other day, our live-in caretaker quit. My family
members then had to rotate to take care of our paralyzed parent. At first, I
didn't think much about it, and did things as an ordinary person would. A few
days later, everyone was very tired, and I also felt that my legs were sore.
Then I realized two things. First, my state was not right for a cultivator.
Second, it took too long to find a new live-in caretaker, and it affected my
doing the three things well. I could not let it be delayed anymore. In "Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. International Fa
Conference," the Master said, "I say that because during the journey you will have hardships, tests
of every sort, unforeseen ordeals, and you will have unexpected interference
from all kinds of attachments and emotion. The interference will come from
family, society, good friends, and even fellow cultivators. And along with
this there is interference from changes in the state of human society and from
human notions that were formed in society. All of those things can drag you
back to being like an ordinary person. But if you can break through all of it,
you can advance towards godhood." It took me another few days to realize I needed to send forth righteous
thoughts to clear away the evil factors that were interfering with my
cultivation. We found a new caretaker soon afterwards. After these incidents, I began to ponder why in daily life I always used
ordinary human logic to handle things instead of treating myself as a cultivator
and thinking from the standpoint of the Fa. Only when something went wrong did I
remember I was a cultivator. I came to understand that I had already been
interfered with, but I did not pay attention. So I thought again from the
standpoint of the Fa-principles about my state of mind and actions, and found
the attachments I needed to eliminate. The key now is to ensure that I have a
righteous understanding in every situation, so that I will not be interfered
with. This is also negating the old forces' evil arrangements for cultivators. When I talked with fellow practitioners about it, they also had the
experience of not being vigilant. We need to cultivate and eliminate this state.
Righteous thoughts, righteous actions. I would also like to ask for fellow
practitioners' help in this regard.
