Sixteen Practitioners in Fulaerji Area of Qiqihar City Illegally Sentenced

(Clearwisdom.net) On May 9, 2006, after eighteen months of detention, sixteen practitioners in the Fulaerji area of Qiqihar City in Heilongjiang Province were sentenced to twelve, seven, five, and three years in prison, because they tried to help people learn the truth about Falun Dafa and not be deceived by the Chinese Communist Party.

In November 2004, practitioners hung many Dafa banners along the streets and parks in the Fulaerji area. Consequently, seventeen practitioners were illegally arrested. The practitioners who were sentenced this time included Yang Shujun, sentenced to twelve years; Li Jiqiu, Liu Bogang and Sha Xiulan, sentenced to seven years; Wang Shuxin, Zhao Lizhuan, Zhao Yazhen, and Cui Rong, sentenced to five years; Xie Shuping, Liu Fenglian, Wen Shuqin, Wang Lianbo, Hao Xiaoxia and Xu Guirong, sentenced to three years; Li Weiling and Zhuang Qingxue, sentenced to one-and-a-half years.

Practitioners have been brutally tortured in detention. They were hung up by their handcuffs for several days straight. During interrogation, Gao Xinglian was tortured to death; Cui Rong, who is over 60 years old, was tortured and became blind; Zhao Yazhen was in critical condition and is now out on bail for medical treatment; Yang Shujun is only 40 but her hair has turned gray as a result of torture.

The person in charge of this case is the deputy director of the Fulaerji area Public Security Division Bureau, Lin Xu. The instructor of the national security team, Li Ruixin, was particularly vicious in torturing practitioners. He hung practitioners up, stripped them, and placed them out in the cold. The presiding judge for this case is Liu Feng from the Fulaerji court (office phone: 86-452-6915741). Other judges are Yu Hongxing and Jiang Shengzhi. The prosecutor who filed the case is Cheng Yong.

In court, most practitioners pointed out that Falun Dafa is righteous. Hanging Dafa banners does not violate the law, let alone constitute a crime. Persecuting Falun Gong is a crime. The police there beat Yang Shujun, Wang Lianbo and other practitioners on the head and did not allow them to speak. Yang Shujun and others shouted, "Falun Dafa is good." Most practitioners have already appealed. They are now detained in Qiqihar First Detention Center. They went on a hunger strike and refused to take water. The situation is very serious.

Toward the end of March, forty-nine practitioners were arrested in the Beishi area of Qiqihar City. From late November 2004 to late March 2006, several hundred practitioners were arrested in different areas of Qiqihar City.
