Taiwan: Falun Gong Practitioners from Taichung Hold Candlelight Vigil Calling for an End to the Persecution (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) From 5:00-8:00 p.m. on July 20, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners from five counties in central Taiwan held a candlelight vigil in a Taichung park. Practitioners protested and condemned the seven-year long persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). They also called upon international society to pay attention and help to stop this persecution.

Liu Cheng-yi, a professor from Chung-Hsing University introduced what Falun Gong is, Falun Gong’s teaching of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," and the spread of Falun Gong. He also exposed the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong by the CCP. He explained that due to the persecution, many families are broken and many children became orphans. According to the report from the Minghui website, it is confirmed that almost 3000 Falun Gong practitioners were persecuted to death.

In March 2006, several witnesses verified that the CCP harvests organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. The Canadian Independent Investigation Group also verified the existence of the organ harvest. Professor Liu called upon international society to support the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in conducting investigations into labor camps and prisons in China so that we can expose the CCP’s crimes and end the persecution as soon as possible.

Director Chang, the director of the representative from Taichung, Huang Yingjie’s office, and a human rights lawyer, gave a speech at the candlelight vigil. He said that July 20 is a sad date. Since it began on July 20, 1999, the persecution of Falun Gong has become worse and worse. But overseas Falun Gong practitioners keep clarifying the truth and trying to stop the persecution. Their spirit encourages the practitioners in Mainland China. Director Chang hopes that practitioners in Mainland China will have the freedom to practice again soon.

Mr. Chang, a businessman who often goes to China, read the truth-clarifying materials. He asked many questions. He understands that Falun Gong practitioners are kind people. He said that he often read truth-clarifying materials in Mainland China. He expressed very high respect for Chinese practitioners when he learned that those practitioners took high risks to make those materials. He knows that the CCP’s propaganda, which is everywhere in China, is not true. Anyone who has the ability to make judgment independently would be able to tell that the CCP lies.

Mr. Chen, a citizen of Taichung, said that he often reads Falun Gong materials. He believes that he has a pre-destined relationship with Falun Gong. He was shocked when he learned that the CCP harvests organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, and believes that the CCP brutality is truly horrible.

Mr. and Mrs. Lin, who started practicing Falun Gong two months ago, smiled when they saw the photos of the spread of Falun Gong in the world. They said that Falun Gong is really good, and that they could not understand why the CCP would persecute it.

Practitioners showed the spread of Falun Gong and the persecution of it in China. They also relayed many touching stories of practitioners clarifying the truth to people who are deceived by the CCP’s lies. Practitioners called upon international society to be aware of this and help to stop the persecution.
