Press Conference Held in Geneva to Condemn CCP Organ Harvesting
(Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of June 29, 2006, a press conference
entitled "Health, Morality and Human Rights" was held in the United
Nations Office in Geneva. Attendees condemned the atrocities of harvesting
organs from living Falun Gong practitioners in prisons and labor camps for
profit. According to a report on Sound of Hope Radio on June 30, the Vice President
of European Parliament, Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, sent the conference a report
about his investigation of persecution of Falun Gong in Beijing. The host of the
conference, the secretary of International Multiple Beliefs Organization, Dr.
Charles, said that what they need to do during this conference was to discuss
the organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners and whether the CCP has been
lying about this issue and trying to cover uo the truth. Dr. Charles said that some Falun Gong practitioners are jailed in a
concentration camp in northeast China where many doctors work. Falun Gong
practitioners' organs have been harvested. Some witnesses found that the organ
harvesting not only happens to Falun Gong practitioners, but also happens to
political prisoners and other prisoners. Dr. Charles read Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott's investigation report. In the
report, Mr. Scott said that when he visited China in 1996, he saw a lot of Falun
Gong practitioners doing the exercises in parks, but the CCP launched a large
scale persecution in 1999. Mr. Scott said that he wants to ask why the
government, which governs a country with the most population in the world, would
have this programmed genocide. Dr. Charles said that the report by Mr. Scott is a challenge to many human
rights organizations and non-government organizations. He said that it is rare
to hear criticism of the CCP from Western newspapers, political parties and
parliaments, however, we should appreciate what this British gentleman has done.
He is trying his best to stand up to the CCP. Dr. Charles said that recent investigations show that in northern China,
doctors in the military hospitals harvest organs from jailed Falun Gong
practitioners. When those practitioners were first arrested, they were
registered with their real names. But when they were found to have healthy
organs, they would be assigned fake names. Their organs have been sold in the
market to people from other countries. The average price is between 40 and 50
thousand US dollars. Conference attendees included Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Ying, who had
been persecuted in China, the president of the Special Committee of
Non-government Organizations, and the former president of the Human Rights
Committee of the Geneva Parliament. |
