(Clearwisdom.net) However diligently I practiced, I could not make any progress in my cultivation. I did not know the reason for my lack of progress, and I continually told myself that I should not become attached to improvement. Later, through sharing with a fellow practitioner, I looked within myself and discovered many of my attachments to concepts which I had enlightened to earlier. They had become firmly rooted notions in my mind. My attachments to these notions prevented me from being enlightened from the Fa. I could not make any progress while studying the Fa through the "lens" of these notions.

Especially after the publication of Teachers "Lecture in Canada in 2006," I discovered that on the surface I understood what Teacher said, since the content of the lecture seemed similar to Teachers previous lectures. But I had a strange feeling that I had to spend a long time to understand even a simple sentence. I didnt give it much thought and just forced myself to read even when I didnt understand. I suddenly understood what Teacher said after I studied Teachers new lecture repeatedly. In my current understanding, I realized that the purpose of Teachers lecture was to remove our attachments to notions we used to understand the Fa and almost every sentence pointed out those notions to which I was attached.

The notions which I have mentioned were what practitioners had enlightened to through cultivation. Some practitioners thought that what they enlightened to was correct and that there was no room for improvement. When we study the Fa with attachments to the concepts we have enlightened to, we make it difficult to understand the Fa further. For example, when some practitioners started the practice during the early years when Teacher was spreading Falun Dafa to the public , many people could accept Dafa, while many others could not. Why was that? Thats because some people view Dafa with attachments to notions while some do not. Practitioners can better understand the principles of the Fa when we study the Fa without any notions.

Teacher said practitioners are truly cultivating when we do the three things well. In my understanding, we are not cultivating if we only do one thing well or we dont do anything well. It is very important to study the Fa in cultivation. The purpose of this sharing is that I hope when we study the Fa, we should not think, "Oh, I knew this part of the Fa, and Teacher taught that before." Only by studying the teachings without holding onto old notions can we understand the Fa and do the three things well under the guidance of the Fa.

Please correct me if there is anything inappropriate.
