Truly Cultivate While Assimilating to the Form of Everyday People's Society

(Clearwisdom.net) Teacher's "Teaching the Fa in Canada, 2006" had a tremendous impact on me. I said repeatedly in my heart, "Thank you, Teacher! Thank you, Teacher!" On the one hand, I was immensely moved by Teacher's profound Fa and patient, compassionate teaching. On the other hand, I felt I had let Teacher down when I measured myself against the Fa, and discovered that I was not doing well in cultivating while assimilating to the form of everyday people's society. I must be more diligent in my cultivation practice.

Teacher's Fa-rectification has progressed to this stage. Now Teacher has talked in this Fa lecture about a common problem of Falun Gong practitioners failing to cultivate while assimilating to the form of everyday people's society as much as possible. I realize this is a very serious problem! Falun Gong practitioners have become mature and rational. It is because we cannot partially understand the Fa and because we must be able to balance doing the three things and cultivating while assimilating to the form of everyday people's society to the maximum that Teacher talked about this issue again and reminded us again of its importance.

For example, before the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, I devoted myself almost entirely to studying the Fa, practicing the Falun Gong exercises, and fulfilling my responsibility as a Falun Gong volunteer assistant. Because my entire family practices Falun Gong, I neglected my family and took it for granted. At work I did only enough work to get by. I didn't neglect any work, but I didn't do my best either. Moreover, I used the excuse of eliminating all attachments, including the attachments to fame and wealth. As a result, I impressed others as a kind person that lacked ambition. It was as though I had become a nun.

Since July 20, 1999, I have made improvements in assimilating to the form of everyday people's society to the maximum. At work I was revered as a great person because I worked hard and had a strong sense of responsibility. However, there were some aspects in which I didn't do well. For example, I was not rational or mature enough when I clarified the truth about Falun Gong to my relatives and friends. Because I had suffered severe persecution, my friends and relatives became terrified of the CCP. I failed to clarify the truth with wisdom and, as a result, some of my friends and relatives reacted negatively and worried for my safety. Take another example. I thought of almost nothing but doing the three things well. As a result, I regarded interactions with people as interference. I started to care less about my children's academic performance. I had gone to extremes.

The key problem lay in my notion. I thought, "Nothing is more important than doing the three things well. At the advent of Fa-rectification in the human realm, everything will be changed. Hence, today's everyday people's society is completely meaningless to future society." It was as though assimilating to the form of everyday people's society during my cultivation practice contradicted doing the three things well. Because of my notion, I failed to require myself to assimilate to the form of everyday people's society in my cultivation practice.

The path Falun Gong practitioners are taking will be left to the future generations of cultivators. We must follow Teacher's requirements for us and walk our paths righteously and well. In the limited remaining time, we must apply ourselves more seriously. While persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, the old forces have also been hard at work on poisoning sentient beings. Owing to their ignorance of the truth about Falun Gong, countless sentient beings are assisting the CCP in its persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, making many Falun Gong practitioners' lives all the more difficult and their living environment inhospitable. During the process of validating the Fa, clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people and assimilating to the form of everyday people's society in cultivation practice, we must alter the environment with our sincerity, compassion, kindness, and righteous thoughts. We should try to make our environment harmonious, help those who are hostile toward us look at us with a friendly eye, and help people with biased opinions about us purge their bad opinions. When we strive to do so, we are saving these people.
