Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party: Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Must Give Clear Explanation of Organ Harvesting
By a Falun Gong practitioner in Taiwan
(Clearwisdom.net) The China Affairs Office of the Taiwan Democratic
Progressive Party stated the following in its press release on July 24, 2006:
"the Chinese Communist regime must face the independent investigation
report on harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and give an
explanation to the world." On July 6, 2006 renowned Canadian international human rights lawyer Mr. David
Matas and David Kilgour, a former Canadian Secretary of State and member of the
Canadian Parliament, published their independent investigation report. The
report concludes that allegations of large-scale forced organ removal from
living Falun Gong practitioners by order of the Chinese Communist regime were
true. The horrendous practice is still continuing. Lai I-chung, director of the
China Affairs Office, said the Chinese Communist regime has no right to ignore
this report. Lai I-chung said on July 24 that recently, not only did the independent
Canadian investigation team speak out, but also mounting evidence published by
the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG)
reveals horrifying crimes. After carefully reading the original text of the Canadian report, Lai I-chung
saw an announcement by the WOIPFG on July 24, which gave specific names of
hospitals and doctors in China suspected of involvement in organ harvesting. He
expressed great concern and said that this announcement, including detailed
charges with names, times, locations and other things, is very serious. He emphasized during an interview, "We must know the truth. The
Communist regime must give an explanation regarding all of these people and
charges. If it cannot, then it's lying, and a series of actions will take place
that will hold the Communist Party accountable." Mr. Lai further commented that the international community must take action.
He also said he hoped the World Health Organization would conduct further
investigations. Taiwan, however, is not a member of WHO. He urged member states
including Japan, the U.S. and the European Union to demand that the WHO conduct
its own investigation, as these alleged facts are truly horrific. He also encouraged Falun Gong practitioners to request organizations
concerned about human rights and medical practice as well as governments around
the world and the international community in general to pay attention to this
issue. Mr. Lai called for Taiwanese people who were intending to receive organ
transplant in Mainland China to read the Canadian report, pursue the source of
donor organs, and think about whether such a step is legal and humanitarian. Right before the end of the interview Lai I-chung said, "In terms of
general human nature, no one can make repeated mistakes and yet not feel at all
ashamed;" "Of course, some people would think the Communist Party is
an exception. Another Democratic Progressive Party leader, Lai Ching-Te, said during a
press interview the next day that there is evidence to prove the Communist
regime has been harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. The
United Nations cannot ignore this crime and cannot use a different standard,
simply because China is a large country. The United Nations should actively
intervene, stop this crime and prevent the tragedy from proliferating. He further expressed the hope that all members of the Taiwan legislature can
support a resolution condemning the Communist regime for its live organ
harvesting. He said, "We, the Taiwan Legislature, also hope to write to the
United Nations to urge the UN to take actions instead of ignoring the whole
matter. It shows the 23 million Taiwanese people are very concerned about Falun
Gong practitioners and also the violation of human rights taking place in
Mainland China."
