Ms. Wang Shujun Persecuted to Death, Her Husband Sentenced to Three Years' Imprisonment
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Wang Shujun was a former employee at the
Agriculture and Reclamation Building in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. In
1995, she suffered from glomerulo-nephritis, which remained uncured even after
she had spent 50,000 to 60,000 yuan on medical expenses. At the
beginning of 1997, Wang Shujun had the good fortune to learn Falun Dafa. She
experienced its miraculous effects: her edema and other ailments disappeared
without any treatment, and she could finally take care of herself. From then on,
Ms. Wang never spent any more on medical expenses and saved a great deal of
money for her workplace and family. When the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, Ms. Wang traveled
to Beijing twice to peacefully appeal for justice for Falun Gong. As a result,
she was illegally detained and sent to the Liaison Office of Jiamusi
Agriculture and Reclamation Building in Beijing. When she was sent back to
Jiamusi City, two persons named Yang and Yu from her workplace, who had picked
her up in Beijing, delivered her to the 610 Office at her workplace.
After this, Ms. Wang was illegally detained at Baoquanling Detention Center for
another 15 days. When the term expired, the detention center did not release her. Instead,
they transferred Ms. Wang to the Jiamusi Detention Center. Only after the
officials from the Department of Politics and Security of the Qianjin Police
Substation extorted 3,000 yuan in cash from Ms. Wang's family members, did they
let her go. In response to her peaceful appeal, her workplace dismissed her. At the end of June 2000, Wang Shujun and her husband, Mr. Zhao Xuetang, who
was also a former employee of the Agriculture and Reclamation Building in
Jiamusi City, went to Beijing for the third time to appeal for Falun Gong and
tell the authorities of her personal experience in benefiting from Falun Gong.
They were illegally detained and sent to the Liaison Office of Jiamusi
Agriculture and Reclamation Building in Beijing. When they were sent back to
Jiamusi City, with the help of policemen from Qianjin Police Substation, Yang
and Yu from their workplace transferred them to Jiamusi Detention Center. Mr.
Zhao Xuetang was illegally detained there for 72 days, after which he was
dismissed from his workplace, and his identification card was also confiscated.
Ms. Wang Shujun was illegally detained at Jiamusi Detention Center for 20 days,
after which she was illegally sentenced to one year's imprisonment in a forced
labor camp. While at the Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp, the guards forbade Ms. Wang from
practicing the Falun Gong exercises and studying Dafa. Because she persisted in
doing so, the guards forced her to stay in a solitary compartment. The guards
didn't allow Ms. Wang to make her bed with her own home-made quilts and sheets.
They forced her to buy the so-called "army corps' blanket," which was
of poor quality yet sold by the authorities of the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp at
a very high price. She had to live in a gloomy, dank room with a cold concrete
floor. Ms. Wang was only given corn cakes to eat that looked black and tasted
sour, and soup that was like salt water, but no drinking water. Once, she even
ate icicles from her windows in the winter to quench her thirst. Due to the
brutal conditions and persecution at the forced labor camp, Ms. Wang suffered a
relapse of uremia (a build-up of toxins in the blood due to kidney disease or
damage) and her entire body became swollen with edema. She was sent to the
hospital for a medical examination, and the doctor diagnosed atrophy of her
kidneys. Despite Wang Shujun's declining health, the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp
still refused to release her, and when her family members wanted to visit her,
the guards refused them and insulted them. Meanwhile her health steadily
declined. On the sixth day of the Chinese Lunar New Year in 2001, to escape
responsibility for her poor health, the authorities at the forced labor camp
sent Ms. Wang back to the home of her relatives. After Ms. Wang returned home, an officer from 610 Office at her workplace
with the last name of Wang always went to her home to harass her. One day in
April 2002, several policemen from the Department of Politics and Security of
the Qianjin Police Substation and the Yongan Police Substation tried to break
into Ms. Wang's apartment with the master keys for the front door. When they
couldn't open the door, they smashed the peep hole, and threw a flaming object
through the hole into her home. They stood in the public corridor and swore
loudly at Ms. Wang, and even threatened that they could cut her electricity. On April 20, a relative of Ms. Wang tried to visit her after learning the
situation. The unlawful officials in front of Ms. Wang's home handcuffed her
relative and illegally detained him at Yongan Police Substation. After they
interrogated him and forced a confession from him, they forced him to call at
her door to be let in, while they hid close by. Ms. Wang was bedridden, and her
husband was comforting her in his arms. When he heard Ms. Wang's relative
urgently calling at their front door, he assumed that her relative was worried
about Ms. Wang's health, and quickly opened the door. Immediately, seven or
eight policemen broke into their home. Some rushed onto the balcony; some into
the kitchen; and others into bathroom. Two of them found the bed where Ms. Wang
was lying and threw off the cover. She was only wearing underwear and her
swollen body was exposed The policemen searched every inch of her home, throwing
everything on the floor, and confiscating her video devices and Dafa books. They
also pushed her husband onto the floor and forcefully took him away. They left
Ms. Wang alone on her bed, with no one to look after her. Mr. Zhao Xuetang, Ms. Wang's husband, was illegally detained at the detention
center. During the May 1st holiday, he was illegally sentenced, for
no reason, to three years' imprisonment in a forced labor camp. At the labor
camp, Mr. Zhao suffered brutal persecution every day. He was forced to sit on a
tiny wooden stool all day long, and was forced to drink salt water. From then on, Ms. Wang Shujun's health condition worsened. She missed her
husband very much and wanted to see her husband for the last time. Ms. Wang's
relatives had gone to the forced labor camp several times to visit her husband,
yet the guards always refused them. Mr. Zhao was not permitted to see his wife
until she passed away, and then only after her family asked some influential
people to help. He was handcuffed and escorted by two policemen. He was allowed
to go to the mortuary to say goodbye to her body. At that time, he could not see
his wife's face clearly because his eyesight was damaged, and he gradually lost
sight in both eyes. The authorities didn't release him for medical treatment
until the Chinese Lunar New Year's Eve. By then Zhao Xuetang was reduced to skin
and bones, and was blind. He was unable take care of himself, and had no
financial support from his former workplace. Ms. Wang Shuping is the elder sister of Ms. Wang Shujun. She also suffered
from severe persecution simply because she practiced Falun Gong. Her house was
illegally ransacked twice, her belongings were illegally confiscated, and she
was always harassed by the unlawful officials. In 2000, in order to peacefully
appeal for Falun Gong and clarify the truth, she traveled to Beijing
and did the Falun Gong exercises at Tiananmen Square. Wang Shuping was illegally
arrested and detained at the Liaison Office of Qiqihar City in Beijing. When she
was taken back to her hometown by the local police station, she was sent
directly to a detention center, where she was illegally detained for two months.
After that, Ms. Wang was dismissed by her school, and expelled by the Chinese
Communist Party. After the authorities at the police station extorted 3,000 yuan
in cash from her children, she was released on bail. In 2001, Wang Shuping was
illegally arrested again. The unlawful policemen handcuffed her and beat her.
They tortured her by hanging her up with only her toes touching the ground. She
suffered from extreme pain until she lost consciousness. At that time, Ms. Wang
was detained for more than two months. Later, she was sentenced to one years'
imprisonment and suffered persecution in Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp. On the day that Ms. Wang Shujun passed away, her relatives went to her
company and negotiated with the authorities on the issue of her funeral
expenses. The management of the Agriculture and Reclamation Building in Jiamusi
City refused to reimburse them for her funeral expenses; and even made negative
comments about her death and badmouthed her. While Ms. Wang suffered terminal
illness, and even had difficulty breathing, the unlawful Chinese Communist Party
officials brutally abducted and detained her husband. With no one to look after
her, Wang Shujun sadly passed away due to the persecution. August 3, 2006 |
