Taiwan: Wall of Hope in Hualian Train Station (Photo)

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioners set up a "Wall of Hope" poster board beside the ticket window at the Hualian Train Station. The Wall of Hope routinely announces information to passengers, including the "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance International Art Exhibition," and the "Photo Exhibition of Falun Dafa Practitioners' Validation of Dafa."

Last month, the content on the Wall of Hope included resolutions passed by Taiwanese counties and cities condemning the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) atrocities of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners. At the beginning of March, it was disclosed that the CCP has been systematically harvesting organs from living practitioners for profit and cremating their remains to destroy evidence in at least 36 concentration camps. Later, the Coalition to Investigation the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) was established to thoroughly investigate CCP labor camps, prisons, detention centers, mental facilities and hospitals. The CIPFG also invited international organizations and governments to join the investigation of the CCP's crimes in the persecution of Falun Gong.

David Matas, international human rights lawyer, and David Kilgour, former Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific) for Canada formed an independent investigation team and released their report to the media on July 6, 2006. In their "Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China," the independent team concluded, "Based on what we now know, we have come to the regrettable conclusion that the allegations are true. We believe that there has been and continues today to be large scale organ seizures from unwilling Falun Gong practitioners."

For more than five months, elected officials in Taiwan have condemned the inhuman and barbaric atrocities. On April 18, Lai Ching-de put forward a temporary proposal to request the Legislative Council to pass a resolution urging international human rights organizations and the World Health Organization to investigate CCP labor camps, prisons and hospitals. The resolution also called on the CCP to immediately stop the illegal organ harvesting and to establish relevant verifiable rules in organ transplantation. The resolution was co-signed by 54 members across the parties in the council and will be listed in upcoming discussion topics.
