Thailand: Thai Police Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners under Pressure from the Chinese Embassy

(Clearwisdom.net) On August 21, 2006, Li Qian, a Falun Gong practitioner from Guangzhou, China, was arrested by Thai policemen when she held a display board and clarified the truth of Falun Gong in front of the Thai Grand Palace. She was sent to the detention center at the Immigration Bureau. The reason the Thai police gave for the arrest was that Lin Qian was an illegal immigrant. On August 22, two Chinese Falun Gong practitioners were arrested when they were on the way to the United Nations Service Center. Later, they were released on bail.

Lin Qian started practicing Falun Gong in 1994. She was illegally arrested by the Chinese communist party (CCP) after the persecution began on July 20, 1999, and sent to a brainwashing center. Her husband, Rao Zhuoyuan, was persecuted to death by the CCP for practicing Falun Gong. Lin Qian escaped to Thailand in December 2005.

Li Qian is currently jailed in the Immigrations Bureau of Thailand. Her eight-year-old daughter, Rao Deru, is home alone without anyone to take care of her.

On August 12 and 13, Falun Gong practitioners took part in celebrations for the Queen of Thailand's birthday, and spread the Fa to the Thai people. The practitioners’ parade entry, dance and musical performances were highly praised by the organizers, which upset the Chinese Embassy. According to the Thai police, the Chinese Embassy exerted pressure on the police to arrest Falun Gong practitioners.
