Ms. Liu Runzhen from Shandong Province, 72, Suffers Persecution (Clearwisdom.net) [Note: The following is a shortened version of a
longer and more detailed article that appeared on the Minghui.org website
(Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).] On the afternoon of May 25, 2006, 72-year-old practitioner Ms. Liu Runzhen
was working at a sales stand on the side of the road in Chunan Township, Linyi
City, Shandong Province. At around 6 o'clock in the evening, a vehicle
approached her stand. Several agents from the Chunan Township 610
Office and police officers from the East Chunan Township Police Station
jumped out of the vehicle and arrested her. They took her to the East Chunan
Township Police Station. Immediately after the arrest, they ransacked her home
and extorted 5,000 yuan from her family. Ms. Liu's daughter Lu
Chunmei tried her best to come up with the 5,000 yuan. She even had to sell her
motorcycle, which was bought for over 7,000 yuan, for 1,800 yuan to pay for the
luxurious meal demanded by the police. After the extortion, the 610 Office and
the East Township Police Station released Ms. Liu on bail for medical treatment. After a few days, the authorities summoned Ms. Liu's daughter Lu Chunmei and
tried to extort more money from her. When they realized that Ms. Lu Chunmei had
no more money, they confiscated her bank book to withdraw her monthly salary
directly. Her bank book is still in the hands of the authorities and they plan
to hold it until they withdraw the amount they demanded. Ms. Lu's family depends
on her monthly salary for everyday life necessities. Confiscating her bank book
has cut off her family's sole source of income. Posting date: 9/18/2006 |
