(Clearwisdom.net) I am a police officer in a detention center. During the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) seven-year persecution of Falun Gong, I witnessed the courageous deeds of practitioners and the magnificence of Dafa. Dafa practitioners' spirit of transcending life and death awakens many sentient beings around them. It also makes us truly feel the indestructible power of benevolence. During these seven years, my poisoned and twisted soul has been purified. Therefore, I also stepped onto the path of cultivation under Teacher's mercy. My gratitude toward Teacher is beyond words. I wish to make known what I witnessed in the detention center.

At the beginning of the illegal persecution of Dafa in 1999, many Dafa practitioners walked the long journey of safeguarding the Fa. During this special historical period, I am so fortunate to have met this group of good cultivators. They awakened my long covered-up human nature. Many practitioners were illegally arrested and sent to the detention center where I worked. They were old and young, male and female, young college students and highly educated people. As the number of the detained Falun Gong practitioners increased, the police officers in the detention center began to discuss the following question: "What is it that they want?" Other detainees in the detention center longed for their own freedom and would try everything to get out. But the detained practitioners firmly clarified the truth without thought of their personal safety or comfort. If only they had not gone to Beijing in order to protest, they would not have been arrested and imprisoned here. If only they wrote a guarantee statement, they would have been able to get out. But they refused to do so. Therefore, many people were illegally sent to forced labor camps and sentenced to prison terms.

In fact, many practitioners suffered from brutal beatings when they were arrested by the police in Beijing. The vicious police officers spared no one. An older woman in her 60s was severely beaten by cruel police officers when she was arrested. After a few days, when she was sent here from Beijing to be detained, her right eye was still black from the beatings. Many of my fellow officers shook their heads in disgust at the brutality they witnessed from other officers.

There was one doctor whose scientific study was a great achievement. He was also arrested in Beijing. His back was covered with bruises from being beaten and he was unable to lie down to sleep. Two female college students were taken to the homeless transfer station before being brought here. They were regularly severely beaten and force-fed with water and chili pepper by the station's male inmates. Many practitioners suffered from brutal force-feeding because they went on hunger strikes. Sometimes they stood up for their rights and practiced the exercises indoors and then were beaten by the guards. Sometimes during the very cold days, the guards would pour water on their heads when they were doing the exercises. They all faced these unjust treatments with peaceful minds.

At that time, there were many female practitioners and criminal suspects held in the center. By coincidence, Suspect A and Suspect B were both sent to the center almost at the same time for having an affair and murdering someone. Their cases were very similar and conducted by the same Intermediate Court. But their sentences were very different. Suspect A was sentenced to death. Suspect B was sentenced to death, but with a stay of execution. I believe that the difference was due to their different attitudes toward Dafa.

Suspect B had no hope for life when she was jailed in the center. She sometimes even disobeyed the center's rules and usually fought with other inmates over little things. Later, an elderly Falun Gong practitioner who everyone called Aunt Chen was put into the same cell. Aunt Chen had leukemia before practicing cultivation. The doctor had told her that her disease could not be cured. After she learned Falun Dafa, the incurable disease disappeared. When she was arrested and sent to the center, the effects of the chemical treatments were still visible. She had no eyebrows. One thing I still can not figure out is how she was able to bring Dafa books with her under the strict surveillance. She was probably protected by Teacher or she used her supernormal capabilities.

Because Aunt Chen had a good relationship with others, people in the cell all liked to be around her. Suspect B often chatted with her. Aunt Chen used this opportunity to tell her how she obtained the Fa, the truth about Falun Gong, what Falun Gong is, the purpose of human life and gave her the book Zhuan Falun to read. Gradually, Suspect B became more considerate of others and no longer caused trouble. Later, some guards found her practicing the exercises openly. So the guard who watched her told her that the court might double her punishment for doing this. She replied that she finally knew the purpose of life and the rest didn't matter. When the judgment was passed, she was sentenced to death with a stay of execution and Suspect A was sentenced to death.

People in the same cell witnessed the magnificence of Dafa. Another detainee who was suspected of robbery also joined the group of cultivators. The Fa truly saves predestined people! Suspect B memorized some of Teacher's articles and was sent to a forced labor camp. Aunt Chen was able to leave the detention center because of her righteous thoughts.

3. Persecutors Receive Karmic Retribution

The practitioner who was force-fed with water and chili pepper was once dragged outside the cell by a class leader in the detention center. He slapped her face several times because she persisted in practicing the exercises. After that, he went through the dining hall and slipped and fell in the hallway. He was seriously injured and unable to stand up for quite a long time. Afterward, this leader still beat practitioners two more times and received karmic retribution in the end. He then had to go to the hospital and stay there for a few days and had to retire due to illness.

A local court judge followed the order of a 610 officer and sentenced one practitioner to five years in prison. The practitioner's wife was also sent to a forced labor camp for practicing Dafa and had to leave an elderly family member and a six-year-old child at home. Later, the judge was diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer. One of our bureau directors actively participated in the persecution of Falun Gong at that time and later was sentenced to jail for taking bribes.

I was so lucky to learn the truth about Dafa because of my job. After I learned Falun Dafa, I passed on Teacher's new articles to fellow practitioners in the prison cell whenever I had a chance. It is extremely important for them to read these articles while in prison.

Later, I felt that I should overcome my attachment to fear and clarify the truth to everyone in my workplace. Helping them learn the truth would lead them to treat Dafa disciples well and thereby save their own lives as well.

I tried to clarify the truth to one of my close colleagues and he soon accepted what I was telling him. Then I clarified the truth to the superintendent in the detention center and played the truth-clarification VCD for him. He seemed to be deeply poisoned by the evil party, so I explained the truth to him many times. He told me to practice at home, and not to do it in public. I knew this was his way of encouraging me. Afterwards, whenever there was a chance, I clarified the truth some more and reminded him to treat Dafa practitioners well. He knows that Dafa practitioners are all very good people because they never caused any trouble.

Now in our detention center Dafa practitioners are being treated much better than before. No one is prohibited from practicing the exercises and there are no more beatings. Some colleagues even asked to learn more about Dafa. Some colleagues with conscience openly said, "History will prove that Falun Gong is innocent."

These incidents have made me believe that these peoples' lives are saved and also increased my confidence. I will do better and be a qualified Dafa disciple.
