Michigan, USA: Mayor John Godfrey Proclaims Falun Dafa Week in the Greater Battle Creek Area (Photo)

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 12, 2006, Mayor John Godfrey proclaimed the week of September 17- 23, 2006, as "Falun Dafa Week" in the Greater Battle Creek Area, Michigan, and called upon all citizens to become more familiar with the brutal persecution going in China against practitioners.

Whereas, Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a traditional Chinese meditation practice, which aims to improve the mind, body and spirit of the practitioner through conscious self-improvement, upgrading of the moral character, gentle movement and meditation; and

Whereas, the practice of Falun Dafa, based on the principle of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance, has enabled millions of people worldwide to deal with stress and anxiety by upgrading their morality and improving their physical and mental well-being with tranquil exercises; and

Whereas, since its introduction to the public in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi, the practice has benefited more than 100 million people in more than seventy nations worldwide; and

Whereas, the enormous human rights violations, including organ harvesting from live practitioners documented by reputable organizations and a large body of direct testimony from inside China about the persecution, highlights a reality of the Crimes Against Humanity that affects every man, woman, and child in China, and avoidably, U. S. citizens as well; and

Whereas, in the week of September 17 through September 23, 2006,Falun Dafa practitioners and supporters are raising awareness of Falun Dafa and the brutal persecution going on in China against practitioners;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, John K. Godfrey ¢», Mayor of the City of Battle Creek, Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of September 17- 23, 2006, as

"FALUN DAFA WEEK"

in the Greater Battle Creek Area and call upon all citizens to become more familiar with the brutal persecution going in China against practitioners.
