Treating Domestic Violence with Righteous Thoughts By a Falun Dafa practitioner from Toronto (Clearwisdom.net) On July 27, 2006, minghui.ca (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net) published the article "Domestic Violence, Who Is the Chief Villain," exposing a special kind of persecution. The article detailed the events in which a practitioner, Ms. Zhang Yanhua from Zhangjiakou City, was persecuted by her husband many times through the form of domestic violence. I would like to share some of my thoughts after reading the article.
I thought that the practitioner’s dealing with her "husband’s domestic violence" with tolerance and compassion again and again was because she did not realize the fact that it was the evil forces using her husband to test her with an "elimination test." She regarded this persecution as her husband, "a human," persecuting a Falun Dafa practitioner. Falun Dafa is compassionate but also solemn. Actually, a cultivator starts by being a good person, who ascends and cannot remain at that level. One can never mistake a person who has no conscience as a good person. When a cultivator genuinely treats him or herself as a practitioner with righteous thoughts, how could a human touch that cultivator?
Our Teacher said, "Whenever a tribulation comes, you do not see it with the side of your original nature but view it completely with your human side. Evil demons then capitalize on this point and inflict endless interference and damage, leaving students in long-term tribulations." ("Expounding on the Fa" from Essentials for Further Advancement) If this practitioner can, as described in the article, act without complaint and hatred no matter how her husband mistreats her, can we say that the practitioner has reached the level Teacher described? "When a tribulation arrives, if you, a disciple, can truly maintain an unshakable calm or be determined to meet different requirements at different levels, this should be sufficient for you to pass the test." ("Expounding on the Fa" from Essentials for Further Advancement.) Why did tribulations continue to pour over her? The article did not say if the practitioner denied her husband’s violence with righteous thoughts, nor did it discuss if fellow practitioners had sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil spirits and demons behind her husband. Actually, Teacher clearly pointed out, "After all, a cultivator is not an ordinary human. So why doesn’t the side of you that is your original nature rectify the Fa?" ("Expounding on the Fa" from Essentials for Further Advancement) We should realize from the Fa principles that this kind of persecution not only intends to destroy the cultivator but also the person who was used as a tool to persecute the cultivator. It is very bad and very evil.
The advancement of Fa-rectification currently requires that Falun Dafa practitioners cultivate themselves well and save sentient beings, while doing the three things. If we are not doing this, it will be easy to fall into the principles of the old, distorted universe. We cannot complete our cultivation just by cultivating hard in our tribulations, because this is not the way our Teacher arranged for us to become gods. Therefore, if the things that are now occurring around Falun Dafa practitioners interfere with doing the three things well, we should eliminate them with righteous thoughts. They are not simply the manifestations of the interference by "humans."
