(Clearwisdom.net) Since July 20, 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Dafa, Qinduankou Prison in Hubei Province has been persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners. The prison started to detain practitioners in 2001. Despite such a vicious environment, many prisoners who interact with practitioners have started to learn the practice of Falun Dafa. Among the prisoners, Mr. Luo Wentao is one who has openly started practicing Falun Dafa.

Mr. Luo Wentao is from the Qiaokou District of Wuhan City. He was imprisoned for stealing and put in the Sixth Division of Qinduankou Prison. In prison he started practicing Falun Dafa. When Mr. Luo Wentao studied the Fa, he wrote down Master's teachings that he had memorized on a piece of paper. The guards later found this paper during a prison search. He was then put into the Strict Monitoring Unit where he was subjected to mistreatment.

The Strict Monitoring Unit is the darkest place in the prison. During the several years that the prison has been involved in the persecution of Falun Gong, the Strict Monitoring Unit has been responsible for the brutal torture of many practitioners, including Mr. Huang Fangbiao, Mr. Zhou Jianwu, Mr. Hu Zhigang, and others. Specifically, in April 2004, due to brutal treatment, the upper half of Mr. Zhou Jiangang's body became paralyzed. Mr. Zhou's sixth and seventh cervical vertebrae were fractured. He can still move his eyes and mouth, but he has lost all feeling in the rest of his body and can no longer take care of himself.

When Mr. Luo Wentao was held in the Strict Monitoring Unit, he informed the prison guards that he had started to learn the Falun Gong practice. As soon as he had free time, he sincerely recited, "Falun Dafa is good! 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance' is good!" He also told every prisoner in the Strict Monitoring Unit that these nine Chinese characters are the true teachings that can save one's life. When one guard tried to persuade him not to practice Falun Gong, he answered with a righteous mind and heart, "I must practice Falun Gong! Otherwise, after I am released from the prison, I would be sent back to the prison for committing crimes again."

After he was held for several months in the Strict Monitoring Unit, the guards attempted to make him write his so-called "understandings," a repentance statement, and other written statements to renounce the practice of Falun Gong. They told him that writing these statements was the prerequisite for releasing him back to the regular units. Mr. Luo solemnly informed them, "There is nothing wrong with practicing Falun Gong," and he refused to write any statements.

Throughout the history of humanity, no persecution against a righteous belief has ever succeeded. In the prisons of Mainland China, the fact that prisoners are doing the "three withdraws" (withdrawing from the CCP and its affiliated organizations, the CCP Youth League and the CCP Young Pioneers) and also learning to practice Falun Gong has validated that righteous faith has the power to guide human beings to be kind, while violence and killing are manifestations of weakness and the evil's struggle to survive. It also foretells the total destruction of evil.
