(Clearwisdom.net) The first shows of the 2007 New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) Chinese New Year Spectacular was performed in the evenings of January 20 to 21, 2007 in the Tainan City Cultural Center. About 4,000 audience members watched the two shows. Many audience members commented that they had never watched such wonderful traditional Chinese performances.

The guests included Mayor of Tainan City Hsu Tian-cai and his wife, director general of the Cultural Bureau of Tainan City, deputy director of the Tainan County Cultural Bureau, a city council member, and a famous painter and his wife. Mayor Hsu said that from the audience’s enthusiastic reaction, one can tell the success of the performance.

Many people wait outside the hall prior to the time for admission

Leading up to 7:00 p.m. on January 20^th, there were long lines outside the auditorium. When it was time, the audience rushed in to be seated and greeted each other with great enthusiasm.

Director of the NTDTV Tainan Lim Shu-zhen said that the Chinese New Year Spectacular show is to promote the fine traditions of Chinese culture, purify one’s body and mind, and enhance human morality. There were twelve programs in the show in Tainan. The eclectic and colorful programs infused the essence of Western and Chinese culture through an interpretation of art.

City Dignitaries Gather to Offer Congratulations on the Success of the Show

Tainan City Mayor Hsu Tian-cai was very busy in his office, but still managed to come to the cultural center to watch the second half of the performance. After the show, he and his wife were interviewed. He said that he was moved by the performance, and that the show filled him with warmth. He said that on behalf of the city's residents, he sincerely hoped to continue working with NTDTV next year and make efforts to promote culture and tourism. In conclusion he wished NTDTV a happy new year and to become the station of the world.

Director General of the Cultural Bureau Hsu Geng-hsiu said that five years ago in Tainan, he saw the NTDTV staff and felt that they had a very dedicated and professional attitude and were quite humble. Last year, upon learning that NTDTV would have a global gala, he invited them to Tainan, which was the first such event in Taiwan organized by government departments directly. They hoped to let the world see that there is such a beautiful place as Tainan in Taiwan through NTDTV. Finally, he wished the viewers of NTDTV a very happy New Year.

Jiang Bo-Zhi, Deputy Director of the Tainan County Cultural Bureau, said that NTDTV has always been concerned about Chinese cultural education. Upon learning about the show, he specifically came to Tainan to watch such a brilliant performance. He said that the Tainan County government also hoped to have the opportunity to participate in putting on the NTDTV performance.

President of the Friendship Association of Women and Business in Anping District Ms. Chuo Mei-hsiu said that she was informed by relatives of this show. She has a considerable interest in the performing arts, and she was delighted to wish NTDTV a prosperous and happy New Year.

City council member Cai Wang-quan expressed that the quintet "Falun Dafa is Good Hymn" touched his heart. He sent New Year's greetings to the NTDTV viewers, wishing them a prosperous Year of the Pig.

Wang Bao-hsing from Tainan thanked NTDTV for planning such a great performance. As a literature and art professional, he felt it was a great honor to take part in this annual event and the first show in Tainan. He was especially impressed by the first performance, with ten stirring drummers.

A section of the program contained the quintet, " Falun Dafa Is Good Hymn," which was performed with a Falun symbol rotating in the backdrop. Mr. Wang was particularly impressed by the selfless dedication of a group of enthusiastic Falun Gong practitioners at the TV station. Their warm hospitality at the entrance to the show left a deep impression on the audience. The efforts have laid a good foundation for promoting Chinese culture and Taiwanese culture.

With a golden light across the sky, a solemn and sacred figure representing Nuwa, a traditional Chinese mystical figure, quietly came down to the vast and noiseless land. She awakened the people's memories of gods and Buddhas, and reminded them not to forget to retrieve their long lost memory of retuning to their original, true self.

This was the first performance of this piano music accompanied by traditional musical instruments, composed by celebrated pianist Xie Xiaojing, who is a Falun Gong practitioner. She said that before the creation of the piece, she calmed her mind and did meditation, and then finished the composition of "Nuwa". In the creative process, Xie Xiaojing has experienced a spiritual self-improvement.

Ms. Tsai from Shunli Company said that she loved the "Nuwa" performance. It combines traditional and modern music, and the ensemble music was very innovative. One lady said that she learned to play piano and zither, but she had not expected the ensemble of the piano and musical instruments to achieve such a beautiful effect.

Feast of Chinese Art

Audience member Ms. Li Jiajing was moved by the performance and said that she saw the spirit and content of Chinese culture and the quintessence of NTDTV. She felt that from the calligraphy exhibition to the show, all of this guided the audience towards authentic and pure Chinese culture.

Ms. Yang from Chiayi said that she was pleased to have such an event in Tainan. She had seen similar programs in other countries. She invited a lot of friends to enjoy this grand occasion together. Ms. Yang said that she hoped such a Chinese trend could be carried forward, and also hoped that she could set foot on stage to make efforts to help showcase Chinese culture.

Huang Yulan would come to the Culture Center once every two weeks to watch performances with her family. She felt the Chinese New Year Spectacular show was quite different from the normal fare, and even when it was Western music, it also had a Chinese flavor. She was greatly impressed by the show.

Many teachers recommended their students to watch the performance to give them a better understanding of traditional Chinese culture. Two students excitedly said that the drum performance was their favorite. They said that they have seen the performance of Western music before many times, but it is quite rare to see the performance of traditional music.

After the performance, a renowned artist said that he had not come to the culture center to watch performances in the past couple years. He had never realized that the arts in Tainan have come so far, and he was pleasantly surprised.

The NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular show presented unique programs and displayed the rich Chinese culture. The audience was captivated by the show throughout the evening.
