Mr. Pan Wenying from Shengli Petroleum Field in Shandong Province Detained in Shengcai Brainwashing Center for Four Months

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Pan Wenying is a retired worker of Shengli

Petroleum Field's Xianhe Petroleum Factory. On September 6, 2006, while walking on the street, he was arrested by security officials from Xianhe Petroleum Factory and the Binhai Public Security Bureau. His family members made inquiries to every possible government unit and finally found out that he had been transferred to the Shengcai Brainwashing Center.

The staff of the brainwashing center possessed no evidence against Mr. Pan. They tried to threaten him and force him to confess that he had distributed Falun Gong materials and copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. They also tried to force him to disclose where he obtained these materials.

Mr. Pan was confined to a dark room, where the windows were covered with newspaper so that no light could come in. In such a dull environment, the staff of the brainwashing center again attempted to force him to confess and to give up practicing Falun Gong. As a result of torture, Mr. Pan's chest became tight, his blood pressure was high, and he fainted several times. In spite of these ill reactions, he was not allowed to go home, and his family was not allowed to visit him.

Later, Mr. Pan was sent to Shengcai Hospital for medical treatment, albeit under close surveillance.

No matter how the police threatened and tortured him, Mr. Pan did not speak a word. As of January 16, 2007, he had been illegally detained for over four months. During the past two months, Mr. Pan has been the only person detained in the brainwashing center. If he is released, the brainwashing center staff will lose their salaries and bonuses.
