A Young Practitioner: Viewing the Fa as the Highest Priority

(Clearwisdom.net) Greetings, Master. Greetings, fellow practitioners.

My name is Virginia Wu. I am twelve years old. Today I will talk about my experience in prioritizing between studying the Fa and completing my everyday homework assignments.

Before, I would study the Fa only if my mother asked me to. I did not realize the importance of Fa study. Because I was always busy with my homework and various activities, I would always first do my homework after coming home from school. I felt that completing homework was the most important thing, as it had to be handed in the next day. I would only study the Fa after completing homework. As a result, I did not have a steady Fa study schedule. Oftentimes, if an event came up, I would not be able to study the Fa enough, and sometimes I did not do it at all.

One day, Mom and I exchanged insights. She asked me why I would stay up as late as necessary to finish my homework, but why I would not do the same for Fa study? Her question showed that I did not view Fa study as my highest priority. As a Dafa disciple, the most important thing is to study the Fa and assimilate the Fa. Master has spoken about the three things that Dafa disciples must do, and studying the Fa is the first one of them. Not studying the Fa is not acceptable.

Besides, not putting Fa study as our highest priority is also not respecting the Fa. I was still clutching onto my thoughts of an ordinary person, which made me view homework as very important since it was due the next day. I had not given a second thought to the prospect that Fa-rectification may also end the next day.

Also, fearing that studying the Fa would delay my homework shows that I have not recognized the power of Dafa. I have not thought about the Fa being the only thing that can save me and guide me back to my true home. The Fa is very precious; if I miss this opportunity, there will not be another chance. I am extremely lucky to have obtained Dafa. Therefore, I should really treasure it.

Later, Mom and I decided that I would study a lecture of the Fa first after returning home from school, and before doing anything else. This ensured that I would be able to study the Fa every day and not be sidetracked by anything else that might come up. I have done this for a little more than a year now, and studying the Fa has become a natural thing to me. I truly like studying the Fa. It not only does not interfere with my other work, it also helps me finish my homework a lot faster.

Together, we also realized that everything we do can show whether or not we truly believe in Dafa.
