Mr. Liu Hongwei Tortured in the Chuanying District Police Department of Jilin City, Jilin Province

(Clearwisdom.net) On the morning of October 24, 2006, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Liu Hongwei from Jilin City was arrested by plainclothes police, without a warrant, when he was doing business at the Chaoyang District Tax Bureau in Changchun City, Jilin Province. His wife Ms. Mu Ping, a practitioner, was also arrested. Jilin City state security agents and the police from the Mengjiatun Police Station in the Chaoyang District of Changchun City illegally searched their home. They took away their computer, bank deposit book and savings of 70,000 yuan, Falun Gong books, and truth clarifying DVDs. On October 25, Mr. Liu and Ms. Mu were sent to the Jilin City Detention Center, where they are currently detained.

The police have frequently interrogated Liu Hongwei and extorted a confession from him by using harsh methods to gather information to keep persecuting him during his imprisonment at the detention center. During one interrogation, they took him from the detention center in the morning and returned him after 4:00 in the afternoon. That afternoon the police forced him to sit on the iron chair and he was unable to walk after he came back. His back was also severely injured. After a long period of time, Mr. Liu was taken back to interrogation, and was only able to move step by step with the support of the windowsill. Mr. Liu still has difficulty walking.

After the couple were illegally arrested, Ms. Mu Ping's mother, who is 76 years old, could not withstand the sudden shocks, and her heart disease recurred. Mr. Liu Hongwei's 74-year-old mother was close to mental collapse. She bore tremendous mental pressure and went to Chuanying District Police Department in Jilin City many times to inquire of policeman Wang Shouyi about her son's status. After a kind person disclosed to her that her son had been so badly beaten that he had difficulty walking, his mother was very worried. She found Wang Shouyi and questioned him as to why her son had been beaten so badly that he could not even walk and requested to see him. Wang Shouyi deceitfully replied, "It is impossible. We don't beat people."

In April of this year, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Jian'guo was persecuted to death. Wang Shouyi was one of the main people responsible, as at that time Jilin City state security agents had secretly instructed Wang Shouyi to handle Mr. Wang's case. On the day before Wang Jian'guo was tortured to death, Wang Shouyi went to Jilin City Detention Center to interrogate Mr. Wang. He therefore knew full well the reason for the death of Mr. Wang Jian'guo.
