Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners Between 2000 and 2005 in Sanming City, Fujian Province

Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhang Yonglu, Mr. Liu Yong and Gao from Sanming City, Fujian Province were illegally arrested while distributing VCDs that explained the facts about the persecution. Gao was sentenced to eight years in prison, Zhang Yonglu was sentenced to six years in prison, and Liu Yong was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison. They were all taken to the Longyan Prison in Longyan City, Fujian Province in July 2005.

The Longyan Prison in located in suburban Longyan City, next to the No. 1 Prison in Fujian Province, also called the Minxi Prison. Male Falun Gong practitioners arrested from all over Fujian Province are held at the Minxi Prison.

Other practitioners were arrested in early November 2000 for distributing truth clarifying flyers. They include Mr. Huang Mingqiu, Mr. Wang Dong, Mr. Xu Weifeng, Mr. Le Shengzhu, Ms. He Jing, Ms. Pan Yuming, Ms. Le Mudi, and Mr. Liu Yong [a different person]. Meilie District Court officials in Sanming City sentenced them on April 10, 2001.

Huang Mingqiu, Wang Dong and Xu Weifeng were each sentenced to five years in prison, Le Shengzhu to four-and-half years in prison, He Jing to four years in prison, Pan Yu to three years in prison, Le Mudi to three-and-a-half years in prison, and Liu Yong was sentenced to 18 months of forced labor. The male practitioners were taken to the Minxi Prison on April 30, 2001, and Ms. Le Mudi was taken to the Fujian Province Women's Prison.
