(Clearwisdom.net) The evil has been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, including elderly practitioners in the 80's, such as I. But the evil won't be able to touch practitioners as long as they have steadfast faith in Teacher and the Fa.
One evening a few years ago, practitioners in our city distributed several thousand Falun Gong truth-clarification fliers. This scared those perpetrating evil. Therefore, a large number of local police began a mass arrest of practitioners in our area, including me. Six policemen interrogated me. They tried to intimate me with threats and asked many questions, such as how many fliers I have distributed, how organized this activity is, and so on. They also told me a pack of lies to intimate me. They lied to me, saying that they had found many fliers at my home, that my wife had admitted that I distributed fliers and that I would be sentenced to prison or a forced labor camp if I refused to confess.
I asked the police calmly in return, "What evidence do you have that I had distributed Falun Gong fliers? It is against the law for you to arrest me without evidence. Truthfully, I don't have any fliers. I have but a book of heaven --- Zhuan Falun. It's Teacher that teaches us practitioners to be better people and to be better than the best people in the world. If only you would truly study and understand this book, you would greatly benefit and have a positive understanding of Falun Gong." They may throw temper tantrums, but I am determined to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to them. Finally I told them that Falun Gong has been spread to over 80 different countries. It is an upright cultivation school. I told them to remember the truth that Heaven will ultimately reward good deeds and punish bad deeds and to make a wise choice.
After about six hours of interrogation, the police could not get any information from me. They found an excuse to release me without losing face and told me to contact them if I wished to talk. Then they drove me home.
After I got out of the car, I didn't return home. Instead, I went to the neighborhood administration office to clarify the truth. I told them matter-of-factly, "Each and every Chinese citizen has the right of freedom of belief, including believing in Falun Gong. You should not have called the police to ransack my home or arrest me. You are assisting in the criminal persecution. What happened to your conscience or morality?" They were speechless because they knew they were in the wrong. I didn't push them further and decided to return home because my goal was to clarify the truth to them and so stop them from committing more crimes against Falun Gong.
Besides arresting Falun Gong practitioners, the local police also secretly followed and spied on practitioners in my area. As soon as the police suspected a practitioner of doing something to clarify the truth, they would go after him or her.
One day, a fellow practitioner in his 70's came to my home with a toolbox to fix a home electronic device. Before he even sat down, two plainclothes policemen barged in and searched him and his toolbox. When they could not find anything, I questioned the police, "Where did you come from? What you have just done is illegal!" They replied, "We came from the City Bureau. You may file a complaint if you want. It's useless." Then they left.
My son asked me not to create any trouble for myself. I thought long and hard about this issue and then decided that I must speak out and seek justice. I guessed that the police chief tried to cover for the two policemen because he said, "They were not from the City Bureau. They are thugs disrupting social order." He even said, "You should have reported them to the police sooner. We would have arrested them." I said, "Well said. You should arrest those thugs who have been disrupting the social order." I was not seeking a specific result. It was not my goal to report the case, but to have those people persecuting Falun Gong practitioners know that we Falun Gong practitioners are not to be harassed.
Since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, I have met many forms of persecution. I went to Beijing to exercise my constitutional right to appeal for Falun Gong, but the police arrested me and took me back to my hometown, where I faced interrogation and financial extortion by the local police. The police also put my name on their "blacklist." My phone line was tapped. I was sent to a forced brainwashing center, where the torturers repeatedly tried to force me to renounce Falun Gong. The local police repeatedly ransacked my home and interrogated me violently and threatened me. When the police attempt to persecute Falun Gong practitioners, they always look fierce and rampant, but they often fail to attain their goal. Why? In my humble opinion, the evil will not be able to harm us as long as practitioners have a steadfast faith in Teacher and the Fa, and as long as we have strong righteous thoughts. That is because Teacher and righteous divine beings will suppress the old forces, and the wicked people are powerless without the manipulating old forces at work.
