Ms. Zheng Xinnian Arrested with Assistance from the Wuhan Engineering Institute

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zheng Xinnian is a senior staff member of the Wuhan Engineering Institute, formerly the Wuhan Steel Professional University. On September 25, 2007, someone from the institute called and asked her to report to the administrative office. The person said that Ms. Zheng needed to complete paperwork for her retirement, although it was not scheduled to take place until March 2008. She went to the institute the following morning at 8:30 a.m. and never returned. Later that afternoon, Officer Xu Guoqing (male) of the Wuhan Steel Corporation Police Department went to Ms. Zheng's home and asked her family to pack some clothing for her, but he refused to disclose her whereabouts.

Both the Wuhan Steel Corporation 610 Office and the State Security Division of the police department have been directly involved in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners at the Wuhan Engineering Institute. Recently, the corporation's 610 Office has been taking practitioners from the corporation to the Tangxunhu Brainwashing Center in Hubei Province.

Reports indicate that Xu was an officer of the State Security Division and was involved in the arrest and persecution of practitioners at the Wuhan Steel Corporation many times since July 20, 1999. He has sent practitioners to brainwashing centers or to prison. He also demanded that the practitioners' workplaces pay him thousands of yuan. When many of the corporation's plants and mines began refusing to pay him or to cooperate with him in persecuting their staff members, he took his scheme to the Wuhan Engineering Institute.

Ms. Zheng had once suffered from many diseases, but after she began practicing Falun Gong in 1993, they disappeared. However, the institute management cooperated with the police and let them arrest and imprison her at a cost of 6,000 "yuan" per month. The institute also paid for two people to guard her in the brainwashing center.
