Today's News from China contains reports of persecution that took place in 29 cities or counties in 11 provinces. Eight practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during detention, and at least 41 practitioners were illegally arrested.

At 2:00 p.m. on September 6, 2007, 610 Office agents, the National Security Team, the Chengdong Police Substation, and the Chengxi Police Substation arrested Ms. Huang Huichan, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Puning, Guangdong Province. Her home was illegally searched. The 610 Office detained Ms. Huang Huichan at the Puning City Detention Center and still refuses to release her. The police plan to unlawfully sentence her, and her family members are denied visitation rights.

On the evening of September 26, 2007, Mr. Li Fengming was on duty at school. The Nong'an County National Security Team and the Gaojiadian Police unlawfully broke into Mr. Li Fengming's home, and forcibly arrested his wife Ms. Zhao Yushu. Later, they also arrested Mr. Li Fengming while he was at work. The police confiscated their Falun Dafa books, lecture DVDs, two cassette-recorders, tapes of Master Li's lectures, videotapes, their TV set, satellite receiver, etc.

On September 27, the local police again broke into Mr. Li Fengming's home, and confiscated his wallet, which contained 4,000 yuan. The value of property and money confiscated from Mr. Li Fengming totaled 30,000 yuan.

Currently Mr. Li Fengming and Ms. Zhao Yushu are detained in Wugongli Xiyuan, Nong'an.

Officers from the Shitai County Public Security Bureau at Chizhou City arrested married couple Ms. Han Zhiqing and Mr. Zhang Shalin, along with Ms. Xu Daping and Ms. Xu Guoqing on the evening of September 24, 2007. Currently Mr. Zhang Shalin and Ms. Xu Daping are detained at the Chizhou City Detention Center. Ms. Han Zhiqing and Ms. Xu Guoqing are detained at Shitai County Detention Center. Ms. Han Zhiqing and Ms. Xu Guoqing have been on hunger strike for over ten days to protest the unlawful detention.

On the evening of October 6, 2007, police from the Wanbao Town of Jilin Province broke into Ms. Gu Yaqin's home and forcefully arrested her. The police also confiscated her cell phone and some other personal property. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

On the afternoon of October 7, 2007, Weiqiao Village police in Shenzhou City unlawfully searched Ms. Tian Xingbao's home and confiscated about 1,000 yuan, one computer, one printer, an MP3 player, Falun Dafa books and some truth-clarifying materials.

In July 2007, Ms. Yuan Guixiang, a practitioner from Rongcheng City, Shandong Province was reported to the police when she was distributing truth-clarifying materials. Four or five policemen later arrested Ms. Yuan. She was sentenced to two years after she was detained at the Rongcheng City Detention Center for fifteen days. Since the Wancun Jail refused to take any more practitioners, her current whereabouts are still unknown. Ms. Lin Yulian, was also arrested.

Officers from the Benxi Steel Factory Security Section and the Jinshan Police Substation arrested Mr. Chen Wei, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Benxi, in the evening on September 30, 2007. Mr. Chen is currently detained at the Benxi Detention Center.

Ms. Zhang Zhiyun, a 64-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Hongkou District, Shanghai, has been unlawfully monitored and followed twenty-four hours a day for over one year.

Ms. Zhang Zhiyun has been persecuted for refusing to renounce her belief. Her husband lost his job five years ago because she practiced Falun Gong. Her son was also forced to move and became unemployed.

Officers from the Hengshui City Public Security Bureau, Shenzhou City Public Security Bureau and Dong'an Police Substation arrested Ms. Wang Qinghui, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Dong'an Village, on October 1. She is currently jailed at the County Public Security Bureau. Later, her home was searched and her computer was confiscated.

Ms. Li Yuzhen (in her fifties) from Feilong Town, Wusheng, Guang'an, Sichuan Province was arrested on September 7. On the evening of September 13, Mr. Tang Zhong, a teacher from Feilong Town Middle School (around thirty-five years old) was also arrested.

Ms. Zhang Yaru, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Dalian City who is a lawyer, has been detained at Sanli Detention Center at Jinzhou District ever since she was arrested. During this period of time, officers from the Dalian Public Security Bureau and the National Security Team tried several times to coerce her to be their "spy" and to cooperate with the police to torture her fellow practitioners, but she refused.

Ms. Wu Ping, in her forties, is a teacher from the Ligong Middle School in Sanxiang Town, Zhongshan City. Because she clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to both the principal and the students, she was reported to the police. On May 21, 2007, police from the Zhongshan City 610 Office and the Sanxiang Town Public Security Bureau arrested Ms. Wu Ping, and her home was forcefully searched. She is currently detained and tortured at the detention center.

At 3:00 p.m. on September 30, 2007, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Sun Yuying was arrested at her home, and her photos of Master Li and Falun Dafa books were confiscated.

On September 30, 2007, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Ying was reported and later arrested by officers from the Zhengdong Police Substation at Raohe County and the 610 Office. Her home was illegally searched, and her Falun Dafa books and some truth-clarifying materials were confiscated.

On September 29, 2007, Ms. Si Yurong, a practitioner from Yinchuan City was arrested at her home and taken to the provincial 610 Office and has since been persecuted there. Ms. Xin Linyuan and Ms. Li Zhixiang have been subjected to brainwashing since their arrest.

Mr. Zhao Zhehua, Ms. Sun Guihua and Ms. Li Jie are practitioners from Hedong District, Tianjin City. On the evening of October 3, they were all arrested at home and their homes were searched. Currently they were jailed at the Hedong Detention Center. Mr. Zhao Zhehua was tortured until he suffered a heart attack and is now undergoing emergency rescue surgery.

On September 23, 2007, Mr. Long Guande and Ms. Zhan Xuemei, a couple from Zhuhai were arrested. They are currently detained at Baiyun District No. 1 Detention Center in Guangzhou City.

On August 23, 2007, Ms. Wei Chunqi was reported by the village Secretary General when she was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to the people around her. She was arrested and taken to the National Security Team of the Qian'an City Public Security Bureau. On September 5, she was unlawfully sentenced to one year and six months forced labor and has been taken to the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp.

In November 2001, Ms. Wei Chunqi was detained at the Qianxi County Detention Center for fifteen days. In August 2004, she was unlawfully sentenced to one year and six months by the Qianxi County Public Security Bureau and then detained at the Hehuakeng Forced Labor Camp in Tang Shan City.

On September 28, a Falun Gong materials production center in Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province was destroyed. Falun Dafa practitioners including Mr. Wang Shouming, Mr. Wang Shougui, Uncle Qian (around 70 years old), and Auntie Zhao (around 70 years old) were arrested. They are currently detained at the city detention center.

Officers from the Zhoucun District 610 Office arrested Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Shen Guanglu and Ms. Sun Feng, a couple from Mengshui Town, Zhoucun District, Zibo City, in the evening on September 10, 2007. They are currently detained and persecuted at the Dazhuang Detention Center in Zhoucun District.

Officers from the Gaopeng Town Police Substation arrested Ms. Wang Yueqing and Ms. Zhao Jinru on October 1, 2007, although they had claimed they were only making a "courtesy call."

Ms. Ma Xiaoying, 38 years old, is a villager from Feishan Village, Feishan Town, Yi County. At around 4:00 p.m. on October 7, the police from the Feishan Town Police Station at Yi County, Baoding District, Hebei Province broke into Ms. Ma Xiaoying's store that sells rice and oil, and forcefully arrested her.

At 1:00 p.m. on July 22, 2007, practitioners from Mengyig County including Mr. Wang Guangjian and Mr. Zhang Ai'jun were reported by Ma Sunhe, from the Nanrongfu Village. Officers from the Duozhuang Town Police Substation arrested them. On August 23, 2007, Mr. Zhang Ai'jun and Mr. Wang Guangjian were sent to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp where they were sentenced to one and a half years.

On July 23, 2007, Xuejia Town police arrested Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Zhou Guangming, Ms. Liu Changjing, Ms. Zhang Jimei, and Ms. Zhou Guihua when they were clarifying the truth in Xuezhuang Town, Fei County. They were sentenced to forced labor on August 23, 2007. Mr. Zhou Guangmin was detained at Wangcun Forced Labor Camp and was sentenced to two years there.
