Don't Wait Until Troubles Emerge to Search Within

(Clearwisdom.net) I started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. It was
magnificent and compassionate Teacher who cured me of my late term breast cancer
and saved me from death's door. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to
suppress Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, I have been diligently involved in Fa-rectification
work. My will to save sentient beings is as solid as rock! I clarify the
truth about Falun Gong to people wherever I go. Teacher said, "[...] saving sentient beings are things Dafa disciples must
do." ("To the Midwest Fa Conference in Minnesota") Since losing my job, I have been working part-time jobs to make ends meet.
Despite low wages, heavy workloads and irregular hours, these part-time jobs
provide me the opportunity to clarify the truth to people. While I was working
as a janitor at a hospital, I met and clarified the truth to many of the
hospital staff, patients, and their relatives and friends. In addition, I
distributed the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and
Falun Gong truth-clarification materials to each office at the hospital.
Suddenly Falun Gong truth-clarification materials were available everywhere in
the hospital. Later I quit the job and worked in a large supermarket, which also
provided me with a great many opportunities to clarify the truth to my coworkers
and customers. Then, I moved on to a job with a guest house franchise. To be responsible to
Falun Gong and myself, fellow practitioners cautioned me to pay attention to
security because the guest house was a service business. They also told me about
practitioners who were arrested in guest houses. I thought, "Everything
exists for the Fa. Nothing is coincidental. There is Teacher and there is Fa. I
will use the opportunities provided at the guest house wisely to clarify the
truth, despite the challenges." There were a lot of people coming and going
at the guest house. I grasped every opportunity I had to clarify the truth. I
clarified the truth in the guest rooms, bathrooms or when guests checked out. I
persuaded over ten people to withdraw from the CCP daily. One day, 16 students
from Dalian University of Technology stayed at this guest house. I clarified the
truth about Falun Gong and about the CCP to them. A few of them felt it was an
honor to be admitted to the CCP, but all of them eventually decided to withdraw
from the CCP. Before they left, I gave each of them a copy of the Nine
Commentaries on the Communist Party. I told them to read it on their way
home and then pass it on to their classmates, friends, family and relatives.
They accepted it and said "thank you" with smiles on their faces. One long-term guest was a college student at the time of the June 4 Massacre
of Students at Tiananmen Square in 1989. I clarified the truth to him and gave
him some materials. One day, I tried to persuade him into withdrawing from the
CCP, but he lost his composure. He said, "During the June 4 Massacre of
Students, I was arrested and imprisoned for 42 days. Who's not afraid when a gun
is pointed at his head?" He was very afraid of being persecuted by the CCP,
so he told me, "You are threatening my personal safety. I will report you
to the police." At the time, my husband (a non-practitioner) overheard our
conversation and reproached me in rage. All the guests at the guest house could
hear him, but I didn't get upset or scared. I sent forth righteous thoughts to
eliminate the evil elements behind that college student and my husband while
keeping a smile on my face. Onlookers wondered whom my husband was cursing.
Afterwards, I reasoned with my husband to keep a harmonious relationship between
us. On the other hand, I thought that the college student was a difficult one to
save. I thought of giving up on him, but when I studied "Fa Teaching at the
U.S. Capital," I came across the following passage. Teacher said,
"From Master's perspective, I know that these people should be saved and
are worthy of being saved." ("Fa Teaching at the U.S. Capital") This college student is also a victim of the CCP and has become afraid of the
CCP. Hence, he holds fast to his existing benefits in the Chinese society with
all its materialism. He needs my help all the more. Because of these two incidents, I began to search inward for any deeply
hidden attachments. On some occasions, I persuaded over a dozen people to
withdraw from the CCP. After fellow practitioners praised me or admired my
"accomplishments," I developed an attachment of zealotry. In addition,
the heavy workload at the guest house made it difficult for me to find time to
study the Fa. When there were a lot of guests, I got only two hours of sleep at
night. At such times, I felt sleepy as soon as I picked up a Falun Gong book.
This is very dangerous! After a discussion with a fellow practitioner, I made up
my mind to make time for studying the Fa daily. Now, I no longer feel sleepy
when studying the Fa. I must do the three things even better and
become all the more diligent in order to fulfill my prehistoric pledge and
return home with Teacher. Please kindly point out anything inappropriate in my understanding limited to
my present cultivation level.
