Ms. Yu Jianmei, president of the school, said, "This is the first time the Minghui School has won such a big award in the community. Our teachers and students are very happy."

Ms. Yu said that the school is located in Maryland near Washington. There are more than 50 teachers and students involved in the school. Ms. Cui, a teacher in the school, participated in the awards ceremony. She said, "Students at the Minghui School come from Maryland, Washington, and Virginia. The youngest is two years old and the eldest is over ten years old. The children follow the principles of 'Truth-Compassion-Forbearance' and are considerate of others. They often promote Chinese culture on the weekends and bring the grace of Falun Dafa to the community."

The Washington, DC, Minghui School was established in 2001 and was the first Minghui School in the world. Since then, Minghui Schools have been established in more than 30 countries.
