Bulgaria: "Falun Gong is good! Welcome to Kazanlak!" (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) Kazanlak is a well-known city in Bulgaria, situated in the central part of the country. It lies at the eastern end of the famous Rose Valley. It is especially marvelous in May when rose fields blossom and the fragrance is unparalleled. The beautiful celebrations for the blossom of the roses take place in the first week of June.
Bulgarian practitioners came for the first time to this ancient city and were warmly welcomed by local people. Young and old, they were coming one by to the central square in order to take a closer look at the big information boards, showing the popularity of Falun Gong in eighty countries around the world, the cruelness of the ongoing persecution by the Communist regime in China, and the shocking news about the violent organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners in China.
The event took place on the 13th of October 2007 and many people had the chance to meet Falun Gong practitioners and to give their support for stopping the persecution against the practice. Some of the practitioners demonstrated the five exercises of Falun Gong; others gave out leaflets and invited people to sign the petition. Everybody was happy to support this noble cause and to condemn the atrocities done by the regime in China. "This is horrible! How can it be possible for such a thing to happen in the 21st century," a young girl said after listening to the explanation of a practitioner. An old woman, who came to see the posters and signed the petition, stayed for some time at the site and appealed to all who were present at the square: "Come and sign here! This persecution has to be stopped!" A local journalist and a young man stayed the whole day with practitioners and helped them in handing out leaflets and talking with passers-by. The young man, who studies in Sofia University, expressed his wish to go to the practice site and do the exercises. The journalist promised to submit information about Falun Dafa to his colleagues, and he himself published information and photos on the Kazanlak Internet website.
Despite the gloomy weather forecast, suddenly the sun came out of the clouds and the sky became very bright blue. A very strong wind continued to blow but it didn't stop people from coming to learn the truth about Falun Gong and sign the petition. In only three hours about 150 signatures were gathered. Several media organizations came to cover the event: Vis Vitalis Radio (a local station) aired a live interview with a practitioner in its morning program. The national TV channel MSat broadcasted coverage of the event in its evening news block on the 13th of October 2007. The reporter narrated the facts of the persecution and a practitioner answered his questions about what Falun Gong is and what the effect of doing the exercises is.
