Eliminating Selfishness

"Because one's life is created in the space of the universe, it is assimilated to Zhen-Shan-Ren, the characteristic of the universe." (Zhuan Falun) Because some lives developed selfishness, they dropped to the level of human beings. The purpose of life is to return to our original, true selves.

When higher beings develop selfishness, they drop in levels. Human beings are worse when they are very selfish. Teacher has taught us to cultivate to an enlightened being that is selfless and altruistic. The future universe is selfless. Cultivation is the process of giving up human attachments, which, like fame, gain, and personal desires, are selfish. Falun Dafa practitioners should be selfless.

Other practitioners have written in their experience sharing articles that, in the face of danger, miracles occur when they are selfless and think only of protecting Dafa and saving other beings. I have experienced it myself.

Once when I was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in the office, the group leader criticized me and everyone went quiet. This leader worked in a police station and often reported on others and gave people a hard time. Everyone was afraid of him. At that moment all kinds of thoughts occurred to me: "Should I continue to clarify the truth, or I should protect myself. If I only protect myself, what about the 12 other people in the office? Won't they be misled by false information? I can't let evil defeat good." One or two seconds passed. I continued explaining the facts like nothing else had been said. Since I was selfless, Teacher helped me. The situation turned positive and people started to chat as usual. Even the group leader supported what I said. This is really "when disciples have ample righteous thoughts, Master has the power to turn back the tide." ("The Master-Disciple Bond" in Hong Yin II)

If we practitioners can be selfless in whatever we do, if we always think of others first, what conflict can't we solve? If we are all selfless and altruistic, what excuses can the evil use to persecute us? Let us all clearly recognize selfishness and eliminate it.
