Facts About the Persecution of Ms. Dong Xuemei from Linyi City, Shandong Province

On July 17, 2001, Ms. Dong Xuemei from Mazhan Village, Mazhan Town, Yishui County, Linyi City, Shandong Province, was arrested while she was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. She was interrogated by force and later sentenced to four years of imprisonment on September 28. She was sent to the Jinan City Women's Prison, where she was tortured.

More than ten other practitioners were arrested along with Ms. Dong. After 18 hours of violent and tortuous interrogation, all practitioners were transferred to the Yishui County Detention Center, where they were again inhumanly tortured. After a month's detention, all practitioners were transferred again to Mazhan Town and continued to be tortured there. The authorities extorted money from these practitioners, in the amounts of 3,000 yuan, 8,000 yuan, 2,000 yuan, etc. Ms. Dong Xuemei was taken back to the Yishui County Detention Center and detained for another three months. Later she was sentenced to four years of imprisonment on September 28, 2007. In the Jinan City Women's Prison, she was forced to perform hard labor. On September 29, 2004, she was released and returned home.
