(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China contains reports of persecution that took place in 42 cities or counties in 13 provinces. In this report, 29 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during detention, and at least 70 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Mr. Dong Fengshan is in his forties and his cell phone was tapped for several days. He was then followed and arrested by the police around 5 p.m. on October 13, 2007.

Ms. Ma Shijie, in her forties, was arrested by the police around noon on October 13, 2007.

Another practitioner from Songyuan City has been missing for five days and is believed to have been arrested as well.

Mr. Ding Zeyang is an associate professor of the High Polymer Institute, Sichuan University. He was arrested in his home by the local police around 9 a.m. on September 13, 2007. The police broke into his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books, materials, photos of Master Li Hongzhi, and his computer. Then they handcuffed Mr. Ding and took him away from his home. A few days later, two policemen from the Wangjiang Street Police Station confiscated a printer from his home.

On October 11, 2007, Ms. Cui Lanting was arrested. In the afternoon on October 12, Ms. Xing Junhua, Mr. Ren Baokun, Mr. Liu Wen, Mr. Dong Hanjie, Ms. Gao Chunlian, Ms. Zhang Jiyan and another female practitioner were arrested. Ms. Xing's home, Mr. Dong and Ms. Zhang's home, and Ms. Gao's home were all ransacked.

On October 14, the police broke into Ms. Zhang Chunfang's home and arrested two female practitioners. Around 10:30 a.m. on October 15, over 20 policemen broke into Ms. Zhang's home again and arrested her.

Around noon on October 16, the police went to several practitioners' homes to harass them. Around 6:30 p.m., a group of plainclothes policemen broke into two practitioners' homes and arrested them. The police also confiscated some personal belongings. Many other practitioners were harassed and had to flee their homes to avoid further persecution.

The confiscated personal belongings include a laptop computer worth 7,000 yuan, an HP 1022 printer, an HP 1020 printer, a Canon 3200 printer, a Canon 1810 printer, a desktop computer, two DVD and VCD recorders, 7 laptop computers, several cell phones, other equipment totaling 30,000 yuan, and plus at least 50,000 yuan in cash.

On October 10, 2007, policemen from the Huludao City Police Department arrested Ms. Dong Guixia and Ms. Hu Baochun and sent them to the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Center in Fushun City. Ms. Dong Guixia has been on a hunger strike since her arrest and has become extremely emaciated.

Ms. Xiang Guilan was arrested on September 11, 2007, and her was home was ransacked. Also, she was recently sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor.

She was once sentenced to three years imprisonment for holding and participating in a press conference in 1999 that was meant for exposing the persecution of Falun Gong to foreign reporters.

Around 8 p.m. on October 17, 2007, a female practitioner from Beijing went to visit her son in Taihang Prison, Hebei Province. She was deceived by the police to go there and thus rode in a vehicle to get there. She was arrested in her hotel by several plainclothes policemen.

From October 12 to October 14, 2007, Ms. Zhou Hui, Ms. Shen Yan, Mr. He Kunlun and Ms. Zhou Shenghua from Jiaozhou City were arrested by the police and their homes were ransacked. Two other female practitioners named Yu and Li were also arrested at the same time.

Mr. Wang Jian from Xingwangzhai Village, Zunhua, Tangshan City, was arrested on October 17, 2007 by the Shirengou Police Station while he was doing household work. His home was ransacked and his Falun Gong books and video CD's were confiscated. Around noon on the same day, the police chief and Wang Xiaoli led four policemen to his home. The village's Chinese Communist Party(CCP) secretary pried open his window and ransacked his home again. They confiscated a desktop computer, a laptop computer and other personal belongings. Currently, Wang Jian is being detained in the Zunhua Detention Center.

On October 11, 2007, Ms. Wang Hongfeng from Hekou Village, Chengshanwei Town, Rongcheng City, was visiting the home of practitioner Ms. Wang Lihua in Zhangjiazhu Village, Shidao, Rongcheng City. She was arrested by policemen led by Xing Jianping from the Rongcheng City 610 Office. Her whereabouts are unknown at this point. Ms. Wang Lihua and practitioner Xiao Bi from Weihai City, Shandong Province were taken away at the same time by the policemen. Ms. Wang Lihua is currently detained in the Rongcheng City Detention Center and Xiao Bi's whereabouts are unknown.

Mr. Li Deli from Guan County, Shandong Province, was arrested by the Guantao County Police around 9 p.m. on September 21, 2007, while he was riding his motorcycle around the Qiaotouxi area. He was sent to the Guantao Detention Center and his wife and son went to the detention center three times to request his release but were denied.

On October 13, 2007, Li Deli's mother (in her seventies) went to the detention center with her son and requested his release for the fourth time. The police told her, "Your son was transferred to the Handan City Forced Labor Camp a couple days ago." The police took out the sentence document and told his mother to put her fingerprint on the document.

On the afternoon of October 7, 2007, Ms. Han Fang from Xiaotian Village, Fujia Town, Zhangdian District, Zibo City, was arrested by the Zhangdian District 610 Office. This happened while she was doing household work and her current whereabouts are still unknown.

Around October 1, 2007, Ms. Li Xiulan, a retired worker from the Zibo City Ceramic Factory, was arrested by the Zibo City 610 Office and her whereabouts are still unknown.

Mr. Xie Tianyou and Mr. Xie Guofu from Hebei Province were forced to become homeless and destitute to avoid persecution. They made a living by providing the service of installing satellite TV receiver equipment. After 3 a.m. on October 15, 2007, they were arrested by the Dongdi Police Station and their temporary home was ransacked. They are currently being detained and persecuted in the Dezhou City Detention Center.

Ms. Chen Guizhi from Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, is a businesswoman from Caiqiao Village, Oubei Town, Yongjia County. In the morning on October 16, 2007, the Yongjia County National Security Team ransacked her home, confiscated Falun Gong books and VCD's, and arrested her. She is currently detained in the Yongjia County Detention Center.

On August 15, 2007, Ms. Huang Shunrong from Jianjin District was illegally tried by the Jiangjin District Court. Her mother, in her nineties, is not being attended to and is now mentally traumatized because of her daughter's trial. Ms. Wen Qinghua was tried towards the end of September.

On the evening of October 9, 2007, the Fuyang City 610 Office and the local police station arrested practitioners on a large scale. Several practitioners are now being detained in the Fuyang City Human Resources Bureau's Education and Training Center. They are now monitored 24 hours a day and have no personal freedom.

Mr. Xu Chuiliang owns a natural gas business facility and he was arrested at his workplace in the evening on October 12, 2007, along with Ms. Xu Wanlan and Mr. Ding Shishuang, while they were exchanging their experiences about practicing Falun Gong. One of his employees who does not practice, surnamed Wu, was arrested with them and was released the next day.

On October 11, 2007, Mr. Wang Mingfang is a resident of 555-2 Gonghexi Street, Apt. 306, Zhabei District, Shanghai City. He was arrested and his home was ransacked because he was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in Xuhui District and is now being detained by the police. A practitioner surnamed Wu from 454 Miyun Street, Apt. 9, Shanghai City, was arrested also. The police organized many of their personnel to follow and watch practitioners. Ms. Zhang Xiangfeng from Minhang District, was followed by two policemen and Ms. Gu Baoqun was followed by the police also and was forced to become homeless to avoid further persecution.

Around midnight on September 22, 2007, the Huidong County 610 Office and over 10 policemen from the local national security arrested Mr. Zheng Guiyou, Mr. Wu Zhujun and another practitioner. Their whereabouts are now unknown.

On October 7, 2007, while Mr. Liu Yuanbo was working in his own machine repair shop, several 610 Office personnel broke into his shop and arrested him.

On October 9, 2007, while Mr. Wu Jianli was working at the Chenxi Coal Mine, the Chenxi County 610 Office arrested him and took him to a brainwashing center where five practitioners are now detained. They include Mr. Yu Shaoqi, Mr. Mao Changwang, Ms. Gong Huamei, Liu Yuanbo, and Wu Jianli.

Ms. Sun Jinfang was imprisoned for three years and her term expired on October 6, 2007. However, she was transferred from the prison to the brainwashing center and now is suffering from further persecution.

In the morning on October 18, 2007, Xiangtan City's Yuhu National Security Team broke into Ms. Peng Xiaohong's home and attempted to send her to brainwashing session for several days. Their attempt was unsuccessful as Ms. Peng firmly kept her righteous thoughts.

Ms. He Jinmei was working in Shenzhen City and was arrested by the Luohu District Police. She was deceived by a secret agent who is a member of the 610 Office. The secret agent discovered that she had produced a large amount of truth-clarifying CD's, so she was arrested.

On the afternoon of October 17, 2007, the Kai County police broke into Mr. Xiong's home, arrested him, and took him to the police station. On the same night, Mr. Xiong was released after having 5,000 yuan extorted from him.

On September 8, 2007, Ms. Wei Jiufu was arrested but managed to escape from police detention and on September 28, she was arrested again. It is said that she was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor and will be sent to Chongqing City. On September 7, Ms. Wei Jiuyuan, the younger sister of Ms. Wei Jiufu, was arrested but was later released after 15 days of police detention. While in detention, the police asked Ms. Wei Jiuyuan where she obtained the Falun Gong materials. She replied that the materials were from her older sister's purse and that is the reason why her older sister Ms. Wei Jiufu was arrested for a second time.

From around 2 p.m. to around 3 p.m. on October 18, 2007, Mr. Wang Xiaoping and Ms. Zhao Cuilian were arrested and their homes were ransacked. Mr. Wang was taken to the local detention center and Ms. Zhao was released and is now home.

On October 9 and October 10, 2007, over 10 practitioners from Shifang City in the Deyang area, were arrested by the local national security team and are detained in the local detention center.

On October 9, 2007, Mr. Xie Wutang, 66 years old, was sentenced to four years and eight months of imprisonment by the Tianxin District Court during his first trial. Mr. Xie has filed an appeal to revoke the verdict and he has demanded his unconditional release.

Ms. Tan Yuxian is around 50 years old, an employee Wenlou Town Middle School, and is a resident of Wenlou Town, Huazhou City, Guangdong Province. On the afternoon of October 8, 2007, the Wenlou Town police found Falun Gong materials in the home of Ms. Tan's sister-in-law, who had reported Ms. Tan to the police. Afterwards, the police arrested Ms. Tan, broke into her home and ransacked it. She is currently being held in the Huazhou City Detention Center.

Mr. You Quanmin and his wife are from Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province, and do business in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province. Around October 3, 2007, Mr. You Quanmin, his wife Ms. Xiao Danfeng, You's parents, and his elder sister were arrested by the Lijiang City Police and their homes were ransacked. Mr. You's parents and sister have been released but Mr. You and his wife are still being held in detention.

Mr. Li Zhonghua is currently being detained in the Hailin City Detention Center, Heilongjiang Province. He requested the right to practice the Falun Gong exercises, but was tortured by the detention center police. He was tied down to a board and was denied use of the restroom.

Mr. Luo Guolong is being detained in the 1st team of the Shenxin Forced Labor Camp, Shenyang City. On August 1, 2007, he spoke to the sanitation inspection officials from the Judicature Bureau and said, "We Falun Gong practitioners are not criminals. We are being persecuted and should be released unconditionally." Wei, a squadron captain, took Mr. Luo to the squadron office room and shocked Mr. Luo's head with three electric batons for 10 minutes. The perpetrators were Guan Feng, the camp director, Chen Qing, the captain, and Liu Feng, a subteam captain. His face and head were severely burned and he sustained severe injuries.

On the morning of October 12, 2007, policemen from the Hulan Town Police Station, Panshi City, and the National Security Team ransacked the homes of Ms. Ma Jinlan, Ms. Jiang Fengyun and a practitioner surnamed Xiu. After that, they then arrested them and also arrested Ms. Ma Jinlan's husband.

On the same day, the Dongning Street Police Station, Panshi City, went to Mr. Zhang Dong's home to arrest him but he was not home at the time. They arrested his wife and said that they would release her only if Mr. Zhang Dong returned to police detention.

Currently, Ms. Ma Jinlan and her husband and fellow practitioner, Xiu, are being detained in the Panshi City Detention Center.

The practitioners that are detained in the 4th ward of the Daqing Prison resisted the persecution, refused to wear the prisoner's uniform, and refused to do the prison's morning aerobics. Seven practitioners from Fujin City have been detained for over 31 days. Ms. Gao Yumin shows symptoms of blood loss and is now currently undergoing a blood transfusion at the Railroad Hospital. Ms. Liu Guizhen is extremely emaciated and has been diagnosed with various diseases in her liver, gallbladder and kidneys.

Mr. Sun Xudong was arrested again while working on Ganjingzishanzhong Street on the morning of October 17, 2007, by several policemen and security guards from the Haimao Street Police Station.

On June 19, 2007, the Haimao Street Police Station arrested Mr. Sun, claiming that someone had reported him to the police. The deputy police chief, Wang Shangang, and policeman, Wang Liansong, used electric batons to shock Mr. Sun for two hours and caused many injuries all over his body. Afterwards, Mr. Sun was transferred to the Jinjia Street Rehab Center for further persecution and after five days, he was released.

Ms. Xu Wenyuan is a government official from the Mudanjiang City's River Course Administrative Office and is a resident of the Aixin Women's Hospital Building on Ping'an Street. Around 7 p.m. on October 10, 2007, the Fudanjiang City National Security Team, the Dong'an Security Team, and police from the Qixing Police Station broke into Ms. Xu's home and arrested her. After detaining her in the Qixing Police Station for a night, the authorities transferred her and then detained her in the local detention center where she remains.

She is now on a hunger strike to protest the detention.

Mr. Liu Honghan, 75 years old, is a retired government official. His wife Ms. Ma Mingxiu, 73 years old, is a retired medical doctor. Around 9 p.m. on August 31, 2007, the Fuguo Street Police Station arrested them in their home and then ransacked their home. The police confiscated a copy machine, some accessory equipment, and Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. They are currently being detained and persecuted in the Yaojia Detention Center. Another practitioner from Dalian City was forced to become homeless to avoid persecution.

Ms. Li Jun, 50 years old, was fired from her job at the Dalian City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine because she practices Falun Gong. On August 31, 2007, she was arrested while clarifying the truth about Falun Gong around the same neighborhood as the Chemistry and Physics Institute, Shahekou District. She was arrested by the local policemen from the Fuguo Street Police Station and has been sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor.

On the afternoon of September 13, 2007, Li Wei from the National Security Team, Liaozhong County, Liaoning Province, led a group of policemen to break into the hotel room of two practitioners at the Sanganxing Hotel. These two practitioners were later released. On the evening of September 12, the police arrested another practitioner named Xiao Quan who is from out of town.

Mr. Hou Yanshuang is from Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. As he entered the prison, he was savagely beaten by two inmates and his cervical spine was injured. This incident was instigated by Jia Ke, an officer of the Prison's Politics Division.

Mr. Li Xinliang from Dandong City, Liaoning Province, was beaten and had his throat injured while being arrested by the local 610 Office. As a result, he could not speak clearly. He was beaten by the inmates three separate times for practicing the Falun Gong exercises. After he was beat two times, he was transferred to the so-called "strict discipline team," and was provided only with a few pieces of pickled vegetables and a small amount of corn gruel.

Mr. Li Suozhu from Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, was transferred to the "strict discipline team" four separate times.

Around 4 p.m. on the afternoon of October 14, 2007, Xu Xingang, a political instructor of the Yuzhou Police Station, Qian'an County, led eight policemen to break into and ransack the home of Mr. Hua Jinshi, a former employee of the Salt Production Company , Qian'an County. At noon on October 14, 2007, Mr. Tan Hong, 37 years old, a surgeon of the Nanchong City Petroleum Corporation's hospital, was arrested by police from the Xicheng Police Station.

Early in the morning on July 27, 2007, Gao Yan, chief of the Zhenxing Police Station, led five policemen, jumped over the wall and broke into Mr. Guo Changyu's home. Mr. Guo is currently detained at the Liuhe County Detention Center.
