My name is Han Zhongcui and I'm 49 years old. I am an official of the Neighborhood Committee at the Chengguan District Train Station of Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. Because I insisted on practicing Falun Gong, I was illegally arrested by police officers Di Ying and Wen Zhaojun and 610 Office head Dong Jianmin and sent to a brainwashing center. My salary was also confiscated.

At the beginning of the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, the director of the neighborhood committee, Di Ying, stopped me from working, forced me to watch the media's lies, and tried to make me give up Falun Gong. She failed and then kept harassing me. In December 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal and was detained for half a month. Then I was sent back to Chengguan Detention Center in Lanzhou. I was not released until June 2001.

During this time, Wen Zhaojun (the former deputy director and current Party secretary of the neighborhood committee) and others falsified receipts that indicated I owed 2,400 yuan in hospital fees, and then proceeded to deduct 8,000 yuan from my salary. In 2002, Di and Wen led a gang to break into my house one night in January and take me away. They took me to the brainwashing center located in Gongjiawan. I protested with a hunger strike. Due to my poor health, on December 30, 2002, Di and Wen sent me to my hometown in the countryside.

In 2003, bullies harassed my child in junior high school so seriously that he was traumatized. He worried about me all day and left school. In May 2003, Di and Wen broke into my house and tried to force me to give up Falun Dafa cultivation. The next day, they had people take me to Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center. I started to vomit and feel dizzy, and I could hardly walk. Di and Wen sent me home.

After returning home, I saw that my son was very stressed. When I was in the brainwashing center, he had sold our appliances for food. Our door was broken and he had propped it closed with a stick. My health did improve after I got home; however, my stomach was distended and rigid. When I cried out in pain, my neighbor heard me and gave me some help. Later our relatives came and took us to their hometown.

In September 2003, Di and Wen found where I was living in my relatives' hometown and broke in. My health had not improved. I was emaciated, just skin and bones, and had to stay in bed and be cared for. Those two officers pulled me out of bed and forced me into their car, taking me to Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center. Under orders from the head of the brainwashing session, Yan Yongsheng, they locked me in a cell and tortured me. I could not move at all.

About two months later, I was taken to the Chinese Medical Hospital and I could no longer stand straight. I was then taken to Lanzhou Army General Hospital for an examination that revealed that my nervous system was seriously damaged and could not be treated.

In December 2004, because I did not listen to the new head of the brainwashing center, Qi Ruijun, I was locked in a cell for seven months. Later I was sent to a cell several times. I was handcuffed for a long time and I stood, with my hands cuffed behind my back, for a long time. My arms were also held up and cuffed. I sat on the ground and sometimes I fainted. The officers added unknown drugs to my food and forbade me to go to the toilet. On snowy days, I was only allowed to wear a single shirt and was left handcuffed on the snowy ground. The officers forced infusions on me and forbade me to sleep.

Three years of persecution has left me very feeble and with serious injuries. My entire body feels heavy. I am unbalanced when I walk and fall forward. My head is heavy, I often feel faint, and I have lost feeling in my limbs. My left arm was injured, the nerve in my right arm was damaged, and one hand was fractured.

In January 2007 in the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center, Wang Guilan called for my relatives to pick me up, but nobody could take care of me, so they called the relatives in my hometown to pick me up.

From September 2003 until today, all of my salary has been confiscated. My family is financially dependent on my relatives.
