Mr. Fan Chengfang and Five Other Practitioners in Xishui County, Hubei Province Illegally Sentenced

Recently several Falun Gong practitioners in Xishui County, Hubei Province, were illegally sentenced by the Procuratorate and Court.

Mr. Fan Chengfang, 66 years old, is a retiree who lived at 157 Liwenbei Road, Qingquan Town, Xishui County. He was sentenced to three years of imprisonment and three more years of a suspended sentence.

Mr. Yang Yunhua, born on June 17, 1951, was a former manager in the Shiyue Hotel in Qingquan Town, Xishui County. He lived in Division Two in Shiyue Village, Qingquan Town, Xishui County. He was sentenced to nine years of imprisonment.

Mr. Li Zhengwen, born on February 18, 1957, lived in Unit 62, Weibeishan, Qingquan Town, Xishui County, Hubei Province. He was laid off and sentenced to seven years of imprisonment.

Mr. Guo Chunliu, born on March 8, 1946, lived on Qiaobei Street, Guankou Town, Xishui County. He was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment.

Mr. Zhang Yuejing, born on September 29, 1946, lived on 39 Xinhuazheng Street, Qingquan Town, Xishui County. He was sentenced to five years of imprisonment. These four Falun Gong practitioners were transferred to Wuhan City on November 23, 2007.

Zhang Yuejin's wife, Mrs. Zhou Qi, is also retired. She was sentenced to five years of imprisonment and was transferred to Wuhan City on November 24, 2007. Mrs. Qi was born on July 23, 1956, but the court documents falsely indicate April 27, 1963. This gives a glimpse of the ways the authorities fabricate things and abuse the law to sentence practitioners more harshly.

It is not clear where these Falun Gong practitioners were detained. They all appealed to the Intermediate Court of Huanggang City, Hubei Province, between October 9, 2007, and November 1, 2007. All of their appeals were rejected without explanation. The defense lawyers understood the facts of the persecution, but there was not much they could do under the intense pressure of the communist regime.

On October 25, 2007, Presiding Judge Xiong Huabing, Judges Yang Zongdian and Xiong Chenxia, and Secretary Cheng Yan signed the criminal sentencing documents in the Court of Xishui County, Hubei Province.

On November 14, Presiding Judge Wang Xujin, Judges Zhang Li and Li Gang, and Secretary Zhang Qing signed the criminal sentencing documents in the Intermediate Court of Huanggang City, Hubei Province.
