Account of Recent Persecution Activities by the 610 Office in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Since mid-October of 2007, several Dafa practitioners in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province have been illegally arrested by the local 610 Office. Some have been detained in the Yancheng Detention Center, where they have been subjected to sleep deprivation and other torture methods. Family members have been prohibited from visiting them.

According to sources, one of the Dafa practitioners, Yan Lin, has already been imprisoned in the Yancheng Detention Center for two weeks.

In July, 2007, five Dafa practitioners from Yancheng City were arrested by policemen. Ms. Wang Jianping, approximately 50 years old and from Xinxing Town, Yancheng City was followed by a plainclothes policeman. She was then arrested in Xinxing Town, and her current whereabouts are unknown. The current situation of Sun Zhengrong and his brother, as well as another female practitioner surnamed Wu, is still under investigation. Wang Jianping was previously imprisoned and persecuted in a labor camp in 2000, and underwent hunger strikes to protest against the persecution. Eventually, she was able to make it out of the labor camp.

Dafa practitioner Liu Lihua from Yanhe Road, Yancheng City was arrested by Yancheng policemen in Shanghai on February 8, 2007 and brought back to an unidentified guest house. After physical interrogation methods failed, she was brought back to the Yancheng Police Station, where she has been subjected to persecution since. On March 15, the Yandu District 610 Office tried to sentence her. After Liu refused to submit to the police's demands of renouncing Falun Gong, the case was rejected by the court for lack of sufficient evidence. Even then, Chief Shao Yimin and Deputy Chief Xu Zhiliang of the Yandu District 610 Office refused to release her. On August 22, Liu was put on trial at the Yandu District People's Court again. No verdict was given, and the court was dismissed. On September 4, Ms. Liu's lawyer said that the case is awaiting directions from the Yancheng City People's Court.
