Former Taiwanese President Signs Petition to Support Human Rights Torch Relay (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) On December 15, the Taiwan United Federation hosted a
charity auction event at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial. The Coalition to Investigate
the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) was invited to participate. The group
presented a "Human Rights Torch" booth to collect signature support
for the Human Rights Torch Relay and run a charity auction of the
relay's T-shirt. Former Taiwanese president Lee Teng-hui Former Taiwanese president Lee Teng-hui came to the auction and visited every
booth. When he stopped at the Human Rights Torch booth, a member of the CIPFG
told the former president that the aim of the Human Rights Torch Relay is to
urge the international community to take action to end the persecution of Falun
Gong, as well as other human rights atrocities in China. Former Taiwanese president Lee Teng-hui signs a petition to

Mr. Lee said: "Of course I will support this. What else would I support if I don't support this." He signed his name on a petition in both Chinese and English.
The Human Rights Torch will come to Taiwan in June 2008.
