Practitioner Ms. Li Ying Died as a Result of Persecution

Ms. Li Ying, a Falun Gong practitioner from Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, was 61 years old. She began practicing in 1997. After that, her health improved, and she often said that it was Teacher who saved her life.

In 2002, Ms. Li appealed for the right to practice Falun Dafa. Consequently, she was detained in the Xi'an City Brainwashing Center, where she was beaten and shocked with an electric baton. She held a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and her health was seriously weakened. After six months, a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) official extorted about 10, 000 yuan from her family before releasing her.

After Ms. Li was released, she was monitored for a long time. A local police officer regularly called her and visited her to threaten and harass her. She and her family were kept under severe duress and could not have any peace. Ms. Li's health deteriorated, and she passed away on October 11, 2007.
