Statistics Reveal the Persecution of Practitioners in Xinji City, Hebei Province

(Clearwisdom.net) [Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article that appeared on the Minghui.org website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).]

The following are statistics that document the crimes committed by authorities in Xinji City, Hebei Province, in their persecution of local practitioners. Despite the extent of these crimes, they represent only what has been reported to date. The true extent of the persecution is thought to be far greater.

During the past eight years, 15 local practitioners were persecuted to death. There were 354 illegal arrests, 810 detentions, 24 practitioners who were sentenced to prison, 30 were sentenced to forced labor camps, and 343 brainwashing sessions were held. Fifteen practitioners were on a wanted list, and 363 practitioners' homes were ransacked. The money the police confiscated amounted to 304,489 yuan. The fines imposed on practitioners totaled 1,796,012 yuan, and the amount extorted was 111,849 yuan. Fifty-six practitioners were forced to leave their homes and move from place to place to avoid arrest, five were forced to divorce their spouses, and 19 were expelled from school or work.

The looted properties included four TV sets, 15 tape recorders, two desktop computers, five motorcycles, one tractor, six bicycles, four VCR's, three tricycles, one safe, four VCD players, one MP3 player, four bags of new clothes, and numerous residential certificates, IDs, marriage licenses, drivers licenses, and some daily necessities.

Other examples of persecution endured by practitioners were torture, demotion, suspension of salaries, and being paraded through the streets, too many instances to have complete statistics.
