Forced Labor Term for an Instructor at Yunnan Vocational College of National Defense Industry Extended by Seven Months

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Su Kun, an instructor at the Yunnan Vocational College of National Defense Industry, was arrested because he clarified the truth to his students during the month of December 2004. Mr. Su is still being detained in the No. 2 Forced Labor Camp in Yunnan Province.

Mr. Su, a computer instructor at the university, was previously detained in August 2002, and some officials attempted to brainwash him as a result. Later, he was forced to step down from his teaching position and worked as a staff member in the Enrollment Office of the College. In November 2004, Mr. Su gave truth-clarification videos to his students who had graduated. When some of the parents of his students saw the videos, they called the authorities. On December 6, 2004, he was arrested by Kunming police officers Li Jinchang and Wang Hui and detained in the No. 1 Detention Center. On December 29, he was sentenced to forced labor for three years and transferred to the No. 2 Forced Labor Camp. His release date was December 5, 2007.

Mr. Su was then detained in the No. 3 team. The families of some practitioners made appointments to see their relatives, but the sub team leader of the No. 3 team, Luo Zhongwu, refused to let the practitioners see their family members. He also threatened that if they refused to "reform", he would have them sentenced. In July 2007, Mr. Su was transferred to the No. 1 team. When his parents went to pick him up on December 5, they were told that his term was extended by 208 days. The reason given was that Mr. Su refused to do forced labor and protested the persecution. The extra days were added on by the No. 3 team leader. The extra days now total 208.

Mr. Su's parents asked to be shown the relevant legal documents. The person that they asked, Kong Xianglong, could not find anything and asked his boss to provide the documentation. So his boss, Qu Kaiming, lied and said that they did not have any right to see any legal documents and said that it was rumored that Mr. Su was an "anti-Socialism" activist. Mr. Su's parents then appealed to Li Gang, a member of the Yunnan Province Forced Labor Camp Management department. Li Gang said that if the extra days were over three months, then they should be reported to his department. Otherwise, they can be managed by the forced labor camp person in charge of "relative relations." However, the Yunnan No. 2 Forced Labor Camp "relative relations" person hasn't reported any information about Mr. Su.

Yuanan No. 2 Forced Labor Camp:

Sub director Kuiming Wang: 86-874-4861077 (Office)
No. 1 chief Xianglong Kong: 86-13312602854 (Cell)
Mr. Su's school is the Yunnan Vocational College of National Defense Industry.
