(Clearwisdom.net) Before 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong, more than ten highly educated staff members at Information Industry Department's No. 5 Research Institute in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, together with their family members, practiced Falun Gong. They all benefited from the practice both mentally and physically. Every year, they saved large sums of money on medical expenses. In the eyes of the staff at the No. 5 Institute, the Falun Gong practitioners were good people. When it came to group practice, they were widely supported by the management. The management not only provided places for them to study the Fa and do the exercises, but also allocated centers such as Town Halls for them to hold Fahuis (Experience Sharing Conferences).

When the persecution of Falun Gong began, the CCP regime forced the supervisors of the No. 5 Research Institute to put pressure on their management staff to execute the CCP's evil policy. The management staff unwillingly carried out the cruel persecution towards the Falun Gong practitioners. Some practitioners went to Beijing to appeal to the government. If they were still employed at the Research Institute, they were threatened to be dismissed from their posts. If they were retired, then their pensions were reduced. For the first three months, they were given no income, and during the following six months, they were only given a total of 200 to 380 yuan, which is much lower than the basic amount needed to cover the average living costs for Guangzhou citizens.

Divisional Manager Li Heping from the No. 5 Security Division actively cooperated with the 610 Office at the Tianhe Police Bureau and took the initiative in setting up the brainwashing center in the Tianhe District. The center held two brainwashing sessions. The second brainwashing session was very long, lasting more than 50 days. Practitioners were illegally detained, and were forced to submit more than 80 yuan as a boarding charge. Steadfast practitioners, including Ni Hongzheng, Xu Saihying and Li Huihang, were detained in a hotel that was related to the Number 5 Institute. This place was used to brainwash steadfast practitioners. People who opposed Falun Gong due to their minds being poisoned, including government officials, police from the Tianhe Sub-Police Station and the Wuhan Police Station attempted to brainwash the practitioners. They used different tactics, including sentimentality, firing them from their jobs, kicking them out of their homes and stopping their pension payments. This was not all they tried. They used threats and rewards (the carrot and stick approach) to brainwash practitioners. They also conjured theories that twisted the truths of Falun Gong. All of the actions used to brainwash these firm practitioners were in one way or another publicized by the evil Communist Party in an effort to malign Falun Gong.

At the same time, the No. 5 Security Division ganged-up with police officers from Tianhe Wushan Police Station, and illegally ransacked Falun Gong practitioners' homes. They also charged heavy fines, ranging from a few thousand to over 10,000 yuan, to practitioners who appealed to the government. Before 2001, when the People's Congress and The Political Consultation Conference were held, in order to cooperate with the Tianhe Police Sub-Bureau, people from the Security Division in the CCP Committee for the No. 5 Institute took away Falun Gong practitioners who did not want to renounce their beliefs and sent them to the brainwashing center. At that time, Dafa practitioner Ni Hongzheng and his wife were going back to their hometown to visit their relative who was in critical condition. Divisional Manager Li Heping and the person in charge of the Senior Cadre Office got an arrest warrant from the Provincial Police Bureau, and they went to Jieyang City to look for Ni Hongzheng. Ni Hongzheng had just returned home. They arrested him and took him back to the No. 5 Institute. They further charged Ni Hongzheng more than 500 yuan for the cost of gas to travel to and from Jieyang City.

Management staff from the No. 5 Institute forced every family member who had practiced Falun Gong to write a guarantee statement promising to give up their beliefs in cultivating Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. Afterward, they illegally arrested and took away the Falun Gong practitioners who were steadfast in their beliefs to the Tianhe Brainwashing Center. They did this many times. In 2001, five Falun Gong practitioners were sent to the forced labor camps under illegal detention and then sentenced for one to three years. They were Ni Hongzheng, Xing Pingzhen, Li Xiaohui, Xu Juhua and one other unnamed practitioner. Another practitioner, Xu Saiying, was taken to the mental hospital to be persecuted. Upon arriving, the head of the mental hospital did not want to accept her, but Li Heping forced the hospital to admit her. Li Huihang, Lin Zuoying and another Falun Gong practitioner were also illegally seized and taken to the Tianhe Brainwashing Center.

In 2005, the CCP committee overseeing the No. 5 Institute forced all of the Institute's staff to sign their names to support an anti-Falun Gong activity. At that time, under the instigation of Mu Chunmin (the person in charge of the CCP committee), over 200 people signed. For the past few years, the CCP committee at the No. 5 Institute often attacked and defamed Falun Dafa via bulletin board postings in residential areas. When Mainland China Falun Dafa practitioners attempted to clarify the truth to them, when truth-clarification materials were mailed to them, and when they received truth-clarification phone calls from overseas Dafa practitioners, they paid no attention. They have continued to stick to their own ways, have attempted to track down the sources of the materials, and have threatened Dafa practitioners from the No. 5 Institute.

Video cameras have been installed everywhere in the public areas around the No. 5 Institute. There have been monitors installed nearby the homes and the entrances of every Dafa practitioner. Their phones have been tapped and recorded. People from the Wushan Police Station set-up a police office in Tianyi Square at the No. 5 Institute, and a special police squad was given responsibility for persecution. At one time, they sent several security guards to follow Dafa practitioner Xu Saiying. Wherever she went, whether shopping, or talking to her acquaintances, there were always security guards beside her. They carried out around the clock close surveillance of her.

Beginning on December 24, 2003, the Security Division in the CCP committee overseeing the No. 5 Institute has teamed up with the 610 Office in Tianhe. Their goal was to cover for and support their persecutory acts. They also provided places, power, equipment, human resources, and materials. People from the Security Division sent people to jointly monitor them, and the Security Team assisted them.

On October 10, 2006, about a dozen police officers from Guangzhou Police Bureau, the Tianhe Police Sub-Bureau, and the Wushan Police Station broke into Dafa practitioner Xu Saiying's home and had her arrested. The Security Division at the No. 5 Institute made this arrangement before she was arrested. The decision for sending Xu Saiying to the brainwashing center to be persecuted was jointly made by the CCP committee at the No. 5 Institute, the Security Division, the Guangzhou City Police Bureau and the Tianhe Police Sub-Bureau. After Xu Saiying's persecution account was exposed on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website, the CCP committee at the No. 5 Institute and the Security Division adopted a series of revengeful actions. Since early November 2006, they purposefully posted notices defaming and undermining Dafa. They also posted pictures of the ceremony when people made pledges upon joining the Youth League at the No. 5 Institute. They sent a security team to guard her around the clock. They incited hatred in family members (who are against Dafa) of those Dafa practitioners who were arrested, and put pressure on other Dafa practitioners.

Who are the people who tried their hardest to persecute Falun Gong? Ye Yuqing, the former president of the Institute and the secretary for the CCP committee, made huge profits from the institute. After he retired, he went overseas to open a factory. The former Divisional Manager for the Security Division, Li Heping, was reported by his subordinates for extortion of 600,000 yuan and then was brought to trial. Due to the fact that the CCP Committee for the institute and the Security Division consistently executed the evil CCP policy to persecute Falun Gong, it has brought tremendous disaster to the people from the No. 5 Institute.

Led by the former President and Secretary to the CCP committee, Ye Yueqing, the management of the institute committed huge corruption scandals. The residential building newly constructed under their supervision contained so many defects, such as the problem of water pipes cracking, bringing huge inconvenience to local citizens.

For the past few years, the health of the family members of the No. 5 Institute has become worse and worse. Whether looking at their personal medical expenses or the medical expenses covered by their insurance, their medical expenses skyrocketed. Family members who had practiced Falun Gong before, who were forcibly brainwashed and "transformed," suffered from both mental and physical tortures. Many had relapses of their old diseases. Tu Caixiu, Du Zhiwen and Ma Xiwen passed away one after the other.

Teachers and students were not exempted from the persecution. In 2006, flu prevailed in the entire school. Fifty to sixty percent of the students contracted this epidemic illness. In some classes, the percentage was over eighty percent. Students who were still able to go to school were numbered. Additionally, schoolteachers were frequently involved in car accidents. The crime that the evil people committed harmed not only their parents, but also young minds.

The repression of the CCP against "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," is a spiritual persecution towards people of the world, strangling benevolent human nature and conscience. The persecution has caused detrimental spiritual tribulations
