Enabling the Singapore Public to Truly Understand the Truth

Greetings to our esteemed Master and fellow practitioners. This experience sharing is a consolidation of some of the thoughts of our Door to Door Truth Clarifying Group.

In order to earn a bit of profit, the Singapore government yields to the CCP's despotic power and thwarts Falun Gong practitioners from exposing the CCP's evil doings in Singapore. The government often abuses its power and persecutes practitioners who expose the CCP and clarify the truth. To Falun Gong, the immediate knee-jerk response from the public is largely negative. Oftentimes we hear them say, "You people must have done something wrong. If not, our government would not sentence your practitioners to jail." Also, "Yes, I saw your people in public places holding banners and placards, but I don't understand what you are trying to do or say," "I have read your materials before, but I still do not have a good picture of what is going on." This type of feedback has not come from just a few people but from at least three neighborhoods. Not to criticize, but this feedback does tell a lot about the progress of our truth clarification and how the public in Singapore views us. If many of them harbor such thoughts, from our understanding of the Fa, this will form a very large, negative field in Singapore, which the evil beings will use to their advantage, interfering in our truth clarification efforts.

There are at present certain prevailing misconceptions about the door to door method of truth clarification. We have heard practitioners comment, "What's the time now? Are you still going door to door?" Also, "How many people can you clarify the truth to in one month? We don't even have the time to distribute materials to all the people." "Its better to clarify in the public areas so that more people can know about the persecution in the shortest time."

Actually, the number of sentient beings practitioners can save through door to door is substantial. Based on estimates, the average number of units in a residential building is about 110. Suppose half the block understands the truth, that will be 55 families. If the one who understood shares the truth with his/her family and they also understand, based on an average size of 3.5 people per family, that will be about 192 lives saved. Currently, our group can complete about four blocks per week. If we multiply that by 192, we are saving about 768 lives per week in just two hours each time. If more fellow practitioners can take up the responsibility to clarify the truth in their own neighborhoods consistently, we believe we can eliminate the negative field and change our current situation.

Though door to door clarification is not as fast as material distribution, we think that it would be erroneous to rely solely and mainly on flier distribution. Very often, people have doubts even after reading our materials or choose not to read them in light of our negative image in Singapore. This is why clarifying the truth face to face becomes very crucial, because we would not know for sure the public's response and whether they read our materials unless we are there to find out.

We have different ways of clarifying the truth to the different people we meet, and these approaches vary according to circumstances. For example, a fellow practitioner has shared that for those who barely open their doors or who instantly articulate curt excuses like "No time to listen" or "I've no interest in listening," she very quickly tells them the most important messages she has to convey in hopes of inspiring them to at least read and understand the materials she has given them.

For those who look friendly and accepting, she clarifies the truth by first promoting the goodness of Dafa before slowly flipping through her folder to explain the history of Dafa chronologically from its inception to its persecution and torture by the CCP, the United Nations reports, the international efforts to bring Jiang Zemin to justice, international media reports, the CCP's organ harvesting atrocities, as well as the Canadian Kilgour-Matas independent investigative report to help the other party clearly and rationally comprehend the authenticity of these facts. When they know the truth, these sentient beings very willingly accept the materials and VCDs.

For instance, a particular lady that two of our practitioners met declined any material remotely Falun Gong related even after they had clarified the facts. Nevertheless, her interest was piqued by our Epoch Times organ harvesting supplement as well as a third party international human rights report that details the persecution of Falun Gong, and she accepted those materials instead.

On a few occasions, two people were listening and were accepting of two of our practitioners' explanations when, midway through, they suddenly recalled having seen the materials around Waterloo Street, and their facial expressions underwent a change to that of unhappy disapproval. These practitioners had to explain to them the rationale behind what our fellow practitioners were doing. For instance, we will always tell them, "Our practitioners in China are facing a life and death situation every minute. You may think that they are breaking the law, but the fact is they really have very urgent things to tell Singaporeans."

Our state of being is inextricably tied to Fa-study, and this can often affect the results of our door to door visits. A practitioner shared that she prepares for her door to door visits by reading one chapter of Zhuan Falun and sending forth righteous thoughts at the MRT station before setting off. Recently, she has begun to be more conscientious in her Fa-study and she discovered that more doors have started to open in response to her increasing diligence. She also finds this practice of reading the Fa more very beneficial and encourages all to adopt this practice, as the things we say will be based on the Fa and will thus carry the Fa's mighty power. The importance of Fa-study and the depth of one's Fa-study hence cannot be overlooked, as Fa-study can sustain one's righteous thoughts and compassion, and we can truly save more sentient beings in this process.

We have an encounter to share here that involves the reactions of people when our compassion has moved them. One practitioner was clarifying the truth to a kind and sympathetic man in his doorway. When she reached the part about the organ harvesting in China, she felt her eyes tearing and when she looked at him, she was surprised to find him tearing too. His mother joined them then and asked him what this was all about. After explaining to his mother, she was also horrified to hear about such cruel acts.

As Master has said in "Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Singapore, 1998:"

"I often say that if a person is free of any personal notions, isn't motivated by self-interest, and is truly looking to benefit others, then when he points out another person's shortcoming or tells the other person what's right, that person will be moved to tears."

Concluding thoughts

Through our direct observation and contact, we will know from people's firsthand reactions how we can awaken their souls. From there, we will be able to supply materials that can directly dispel their confusion and truly offer them salvation.
