Lessons Learned on the Importance of Cultivating Oneself Well While Validating the Fa

(Clearwisdom.net) After my wife and I went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa, police and national security agents from the 610 Office persecuted us many times. We were sent to a remote location for work, our salaries and bonuses were withheld for no reason, our home was searched, we were incarcerated in a detention center and labor camps, and we had to abandon our home to avoid further persecution. Since we left home, police and national security agents have monitored our parents, relatives and friends. They even hired unemployed persons and our neighbors to monitor my family members. Even now, my parents' telephones are monitored, and my family members are often followed and kept under surveillance. My parents and child faced enormous pressure. My parents' hair turned white in the past three years.

Today I do not want to continue to list the persecution we suffered. Rather, I would like to share some lessons learned while making truth-clarification materials since we left home. I hope the lessons I have learned will serve as a warning to fellow practitioners and reduce potential losses for Dafa, and that what I have experienced might perhaps inspire all of us to better cultivate ourselves and assist Master in saving people.

Having lost the source for truth-clarification information and distribution after we left home, I worried that I would be unable to rescue people on a large scale. With Master's help and protection, I gradually returned to a normal routine of validating Dafa and rescuing people. I started by hand writing truth-clarification materials. Later I purchased a copy machine and other equipment to offer more people salvation. However, because of my attachment to doing things and because of fear, I did not effectively look inward. Our Dafa materials production site was thus destroyed. We lost our tools for rescuing people.

We had initially set aside fixed hours daily to study the Fa. This assured that we would be able to pass the tribulations that were caused by our attachments. Later, when I wanted to print more materials to rescue more people, we reduced our Fa study time. I wanted to spend all my time producing truth-clarification materials.

We did not study the Fa well. Our conflicts with fellow practitioners and neighbors increased at the same time, and it became harder and harder for us to pass tribulations. We could not study the Fa and send forth righteous thoughts with calm hearts and minds, and even the equipment often broke down.

Because we did not study the Fa well, I did not truly look inward when encountering problems. Actually I always fixated on our neighbor's attachments, a practitioner who had begun cultivation after July 20, 1999. I could not stand it when others pointed out my shortcomings. This led to allowing the evil to take advantage of my attachments. In addition, I did not pass the lust test, yet I was embarrassed to admit it in front of fellow practitioners.

At this point, the owner our rented house sold the house, and we were forced to move. The newly rented place is in a noisy and busy neighborhood, and we cannot make Dafa materials there. When moving the equipment, CCP secret agents followed me. I did not pay attention and still distributed truth-clarification materials. The secret agents followed me to find out where the materials production center was and whom I contacted. Though we managed to lose them, and with Master's protection, kept the equipment safe, I could not do any Dafa work because of their monitoring. This caused a great loss that I regretted very much.

We must emphasize the importance of Fa study! If we don't cultivate ourselves well, the evil will take advantage of our omissions and interfere with our mission of rescuing people. Looking inward means finding my own attachments rather than those of others. Cultivating and raising our xinxing is the foundation for clarifying the truth and rescuing people. Master told us many times that we must do Dafa work as Dafa disciples, not as ordinary people. I ignored the frequent equipment malfunctions, and I did not learn from others' lessons published on Clearwisdom and caused great losses to Dafa.

As soon as I discovered that secret agents were following me and that my room was under electronic surveillance, we then studied the Fa carefully and looked inward. In the meantime we asked Master to protect us and intensified sending forth righteous thoughts, completely denying all of the old forces' persecution. To avoid implicating fellow practitioners who were rescuing people, we warned them to pay attention to safety and reminded them to study the Fa well. With Master's help and wisdom from the Fa, we prevented further persecution, validated Dafa and exposed the persecution.

Lessons I learned:

1. We must study the Fa very well, regard the Fa as teacher and look inward. We can only do Dafa work well and accomplish our mission of rescuing people when we cultivate ourselves well.
2. We can overcome any tribulation as long as we deny all evil arrangements with firm faith in Dafa and Master. Our righteous thoughts and Master's protection are what guarantees that we can pass any test.
3. We must treasure our materials production centers! They are one of the most important tools for rescuing people and to fulfill our solemn responsibilities. If our attachments interrupt work at the materials production center we will cause great losses to Dafa and sentient beings.
