Falun Dafa Practitioners from Funing County, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province Subjected to Torture

In 2000, Dafa practitioner Ms. Fang Yanru from Funing County, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Police officers from the Qinhuangdao, Funing County Police Station of Hebei Province brought her back to her locality and imprisoned her in the Funing County Detention Center. The wicked police officers forced imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners to kneel down on the snow outside the prison ward for more than two hours. They also beat them mercilessly. Afterwards, they sent all practitioners to the Yang River reservoir Brainwashing Center. Ms. Fang Yanru was tortured there for six months. Every day, the police forced all practitioners to walk around in circles or do exercise for 18 consecutive hours. Sometimes they were punished and forced to stand, and sometimes they were locked in small rooms after being beaten mercilessly by the police. The police officers who tortured Ms. Fang Yanru include Gao Jie, Chen Zhiqiang, Han Wenchen, and Mr. Zou.

Ms. Fang Yanru went to appeal to the authorities again less than one month after she was released. She was illegally arrested, and imprisoned at the Funing County Party School Brainwashing Center. The people who participated in this persecution and torture include Chief Zhang Yisheng, Chen Zhiqiang, and the evil police officer from the Changbaishang Mountain Machine Factory, Mr. Zou. After they imprisoned her, Ms. Fang Yanru held a hunger strike. For this, the police beat her mercilessly for 16 days. Due to this torture, Ms. Fang became extremely emaciated. She was released only after she was diagnosed with diabetes.

Dafa practitioner Mr. Shen Liyong, from Qinhuangdao, Funing County, went to Beijing to appeal after the persecution began on July 20, 1999. He was arrested when he arrived in Beijing, and later imprisoned at the Funing County Detention Center. During this period, police officers beat Shen Liyong mercilessly. Police officer Cao Dahai even trampled on his chin once. Mr. Shen Liyong was later transferred to the Yang River reservoir Brainwashing Center for continuing torture. Practitioners were forced to stand handcuffed, or were locked into small rooms. Mr. Shen Liyong was once beaten mercilessly by evil people after they saw him doing the Falun Gong exercises. They broke his shoulder blade. Mr. Shen Liyong was imprisoned in the brainwashing center of the Young River Reservoir for nine months. They finally released him after he had been fined several thousand yuan.

Soon after Mr. Shen Liyong returned home, he appealed to the authorities again. He was first arrested and taken to the Zhuchao Camp local police station and beaten mercilessly. After that, he was sent to the Funing County lockup ward. In that ward, he suffered mistreatment and merciless beatings from the criminal inmates in every possible way. About 38 days later, he was sent and imprisoned in the Lotus Pit (Hehuakeng) Forced Labor Camp. In the labor camp, guards tortured Mr. Shen Liyong. He suffered from brutal beatings, the "killing rope," being locked up in a small cell, and more.
