Account of the Events that Led to the Death of Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Zhou Wuliang of Anhua County, Hunan Province in 2001

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhou Wuliang, from Xianxi Town, Anhua County, Hunan Province, was beaten to death by police in March 2001. I would like to contribute some additional information about his death.

Mr. Zhou Wuliang, who was over 50 years old, was a farmer from Xianxi Town, Anhua County. He started to practice Falun Gong before 1998. Mr. Zhou was well liked and respected by the community. In late February of 2001, nearly all of the Falun Dafa practitioners from Anhua County were arrested and taken to the Anhua County Brainwashing Center, where they were illegally imprisoned and persecuted. It was during this period that Mr. Zhou was beaten to death by the police in the brainwashing center.

That morning, after breakfast, the guards forced the practitioners to gather in the classroom. Meanwhile, someone had told Mr. Zhou Wuliang to move a brazier outside. The Anhua County Police Bureau Assistant Commissioner Jiang Zhihui was giving a speech in the classroom about the twisted Chinese Communist Party (CCP) ideology. Suddenly we heard a loud sound coming from outside the room. A person rushed inside and whispered something to Jiang Zhihui, who immediately left. Another person quickly closed the door and did not allow us to go outside to see what was going on.

Everybody was anxious and did not know what was happening. We learned afterwards that Mr. Zhou Wuliang had been seriously injured, and was sent to the hospital for emergency rescue.

When pressed for details about what happened, a staff member from the brainwashing center named Wu Manzhen took us to the scene. She pointed to the bulletin board from which strips of torn paper were hanging, and said angrily, "Look at what Zhou Wuliang did!" After that, she left, as if that justified everything. The posting on that bulletin board was slandering Dafa and Master Li. It was Mr. Zhou Wuliang who ripped off the poster, and he was then killed by the police. The police, however, claimed that Mr. Zhou Wuliang had committed suicide by jumping off the building.

On the third day, the heads of the 610 Office Chen Yongsheng and Jiang Zhihui summoned everybody to a meeting. At the meeting they told us that they had been unsuccessful in resuscitating Mr. Zhou, and his family had taken his body home.

At that point, the Dafa practitioners present made two requests. First, we requested that every eyewitness in the cafeteria or on the road should describe how Mr. Zhou had jumped off the building to his death, if their story was true. Second, a mourning place should be set up in the brainwashing center, and we should have a memorial service for Mr. Zhou.

The answer from Jiang Zhihui was, "First, eyewitnesses are unnecessary, because the authorities will send people to inspect the scene shortly, and they will investigate the situation thoroughly. Second, the memorial service and mourning place are not permissible."

The so-called investigation from the authorities never happened.

Later on, a staff member named Li said to us, "A big bump was there on top of Mr. Zhou Wuliang's head. When I carried him into the vehicle, his nose was dripping dark blood. It dripped on my neck and ruined my clothes. At that time, Mr. Zhou had already lost consciousness, and he could not speak."

The heads of the 610 office Chen Yongsheng and Jiang Zhihui must take direct responsibility for this murder.
