Master Li Rescued Me from My Dissolute Life

(Clearwisdom.net) From 1993 to 1998, I was the material section head of an enterprise. I often profited by taking sales commissions, and I indulged in smoking, drinking and other bad behavior. I was notorious locally for my misconduct after I was drunk.

Then I was introduced to Zhuan Falun. When I first read the book, I immediately felt its extraordinary power. After reading through the book again and again I was greatly shocked. I had found a real way of life in the maze, "One should return to one's original, true self; this is the real purpose of being human." ("Lecture One" in Zhuan Falun, 2000 translation version)

I eagerly read the whole book from cover to cover and looked back at my life, scene after scene. I felt almost too ashamed to live. After three days' of soul searching in the face of my attachments to lust and other vices, I swore that I would completely get rid of smoking, drinking, and lust.

"Study the Fa and gain the Fa,
Focus on how you study and cultivate,
Let each and every thing
be measured against the Fa.
Only then, with that,
is it actually cultivation."

I realized that in Dafa cultivation practice, mere realization of a principle is not enough. Without accomplishments, cultivation is not real. So, with a righteous belief in Master and the Fa and the consequent righteous thoughts and actions, I finally broke away from the hold my emotions had had on me for many years. In facing the tests, I succeeded three times and eventually ended my decades of excessive indulgence in lust.

During the SARS outbreak, one day I suddenly showed symptoms of a stroke, unable to control my mouth and eyes. I refused to go to a hospital and firmly believed in the power of Dafa. I told my wife, "I will recover in a week!" And, indeed, it happened. That miracle completely changed my wife's attitude toward Dafa: from disapproval to support, from keeping practitioners out of our home to voluntarily visiting illegally detained practitioners in a forced labor camp. My wife's amazing awakening enabled me to experience the real joy of a rescued being.

Our compassionate Master has rescued me from my dissolute life and washed me clean. Only through diligent cultivation can I, as a Dafa disciple, be worthy of Master's grand mercy.
