Sharing My Shallow Understanding with Fellow Practitioners Who Don't Know How to Look Inward

(Clearwisdom.net) As a matter of fact, I don't really have a deep understanding on how to look inward. Whenever I encountered conflicts and could not pass through certain tribulations, I became anxious. I looked inward, but could not find the fundamental attachment. I would tell myself, "Forget about it. I will try to do well by following the Fa." In this way, I did not truly let go of the attachment.

When I told fellow practitioners that I didn't know how to look inward, some of them also mentioned that they have the same problem. Because the Fa-rectification is in its final stage, Teacher hopes to save all Dafa practitioners so that we can cultivate toward consummation. Teacher said:

"If you want to return where you came from, you must have the following two factors. One is suffering. The other is enlightenment." ("Lecture in Sydney," 1996)

Teacher also said:

"Cultivate, my disciples, 'til no single omission is found" ("Hong Yin")

However, I did not know how to find my attachments. In other words, I didn't know how to study or enlighten to the Fa. I felt depressed because I could not find the attachment and therefore was not able to get rid of it. There are still bad elements and bad thoughts in my realm.

Last night, I read Lecture Four of Zhuan Falun. Teacher said:

"Throughout the whole course of cultivation we should lose all those attachments and different desires that ordinary people have."

Today, I suddenly enlightened that whenever I encounter problems, as long as my heart is disturbed, I should check my mindset in accordance with the Fa. If it is a human heart, then what kind of attachment is it? I should immediately remind myself: "The attachment is exposed. It is not me, and I must dissolve it and get rid of it."

Teacher said:

"The tribulations are set up to temper your mind and get rid of your different attachments."(Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun)

My understanding is that Teacher sees our bad thoughts and attachments and uses all possible ways to make us realize them. However, instead of looking inward, we actually look outward and at the attachments of others. As a result, with strong human attachments, we cannot get rid of bad elements and bad thoughts and our xinxing cannot improve.

Before, I did not truly understand Teacher's words: "You've gained in four ways all in one shot." and "You should really thank him from the bottom of your heart." (Zhuan Falun) After realizing how to look inward, my understanding of this teaching became deeper. Without tribulations, how could we improve our character? Before, whenever I came across conflicts, I failed to dig out my human attachments. Now, I have a deeper understanding of the Fa. Also, I want to thank those people who had conflicts with me from the bottom of my heart.

Teacher enlightened me to how to look inward. I truly feel gratitude towards Teacher for His benevolent salvation. I hope fellow practitioners can look inward and dissolve all human attachments. Then, finally, we can become qualified Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples, reach consummation, and follow Teacher home.
