(Clearwisdom.net) Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution.

Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.

Deputy Director of the Linqing City Police Department in Shandong Province, Yao Xidong Injured in a Car Accident

Yao Xidong is the deputy director of the Linqing City Police Department in Shandong Province. In February of this year, he and his daughter were involved in a car accident. The car was totaled. Yao had a head injury that needed a few stitches, a fractured skull, and an injury to one lobe of his lung. His daughter was injured as well, so they were both hospitalized.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, Yao has been in charge of persecuting local practitioners. Many practitioners have been arrested, some had money extorted from them, some were placed under surveillance, some have been sent to forced labor camps, and some were even tortured to death. There were also practitioners who gave up cultivation under pressure, had a relapse of their previous illnesses and died thereafter.

It is the Heavenly Law that good will be rewarded and evil will be punished, so people are bound to suffer for doing bad deeds. However, Buddhas and gods are compassionate and always try to give people another chance and wait for the people to awaken. Thus, Yao is still alive.

National Tax Bureau Director of Baoding City, Hebei Province, Liu Zhanqi Died in 2000

As early as 1999, soon after the "April 25" event, Liu Zhanqi, director of the National Tax Bureau of Baoding, personally exerted pressure on practitioners. He frequently threatened to dismiss them from work if they did not quit practicing. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Jiang's regime started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Liu was even more active and dismissed practitioners out of hand. He ordered the subordinate county's National Tax Bureau to hold brainwashing sessions. If practitioners refused to be "transformed," they would not be allowed to go home or go to work. On the so-called sensitive dates like October 1 and January 1, in 1999 and 2000, practitioners working in the National Tax Bureau of Baoding were put under house arrest and watched by designated personnel in the workplace for several days.

In May 2000, the Baoding City Procuratorate dispatched more than 20 police officers to ransack Liu's his home, charged him with embezzlement, arrested him, and charged him with "Double Provision" [a Chinese Communist Party's investigation method in isolation to obtain a confession from a person at a specified site on a specified date]. He died in prison before the court date. It was said that his once overweight body became very thin and pale due to great pain before his death. His wife was sentenced to five years in prison and his wife's younger brother was also sentenced to jail.

Liu Zhiqun, Staff Member with the Border Station in Niangnianggong Town, Linghai City, Liaoning Province, Developed a Strange Disease

Liu Zhiqun was a staff member at the Border Station of Niangnianggong Town, Linghai City, Liaoning Province. Since July 20, 1999, followed the orders of the CCP and Jiang's regime and persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. He harassed practitioners many times at their homes, obliterated the Zhen-Shan-Ren ("Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance") characters, removed truth-clarification banners, arrested practitioners, seized their money, and drove them into homelessness.

In the beginning of 2006, Liu suddenly developed a strange disease. One of his eyes went blind and he could not open the other one. He had to lift his eyelid with his fingers just to walk. He could not close his mouth either, exposing all his teeth. A doctor diagnosed it as a breakdown of the facial nervous system and said it was incurable.
