Falun Dafa Practitioner Li Lianshu from Hebei Province Persecuted and Forced Into Homelessness

(Clearwisdom.net) Because of her belief in Falun Dafa, Ms. Li Lianshu of Dacihan village, Xiantai District, Mancheng County, Hebei Province was relentlessly persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She was eventually forced into homelessness to avoid further persecution.

In 1998, after suffering eight years of illnesses and pain, Ms. Li Lianshu came across Zhuan Falun. After reading the book for two hours, the symptoms of her heart problem appeared. Her husband then told her she should take the usual transfusion, to which she agreed. She continued to read Zhuan Falun while receiving the transfusion. An hour later when she took a quick glance to look up at the transfusion bottle, she noticed that the liquid had not dripped down at all -- the bottle was still full. Also, the area where the needle was inserted would usually become swollen. But this time, however, nothing happened. She thought to herself, "Is it true that I can be cured without having a transfusion?" She immediately pulled out the needle.

Since then, Ms. Li Lianshu began her path of cultivation and became a Falun Dafa practitioner. Within three months of practicing, all her illnesses and pain went away. She was no longer dependent on medicine or on others to take care of her. She thought, "When I was sick for so many years, I depended on others to do things for me. Now that I am a Falun Dafa practitioner and physically well, it's my turn to think of others. So I should work." She became instantly energized with just this thought. She thus began to accompany her husband to work in the fields. Since her recovery, she has been able to carry 100 pounds of wheat up the ladder to put it on the roof top for drying. Her whole family witnessed the greatness of Falun Dafa. Prior to practicing Falun Dafa, Ms. Li had a tense relationship with her mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. However, their relationships improved after she required herself to follow "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance."

Relatives, friends, and other villagers all witnessed that Ms. Li's family became physically healthier and lived harmoniously and happily with each other after practicing Falun Dafa.

On July 13, 2001, Ms. Li Lianshu was arrested by the Bailong Station Police while passing out truth-clarification fliers. At the station, the police brutally beat her ankle with a wooden bat for about ten minutes and slapped her face numerous times while pulling her hair. Then they used electric batons to hit her legs and back. However, while using the electric batons to beat her, the police officers suddenly fell down. In the evening, they were in a lot of pain. Still they did not realize that this was karmic retribution for persecuting Falun Gong and still sent Ms. Li and several other fellow practitioners to the Mancheng Detention Center for further persecution and forced labor.

There, Ms. Li and other practitioners were tortured and humiliated for ten months. The door to the restroom was broken and practitioners were not allowed to close the shower curtain when showering. When they tried to appeal, the guards said, "Don't do what the Communist party doesn't allow you to do - don't appeal."

Ten months later, Ms. Li was again sent to the 610 Office brainwashing center for a month of torture. She was only released after the perpetrators extorted 3,000 yuan from her family. After returning home, the officials from the district government still continued to harass her family. On every politically sensitive date, there would be constant phone calls or house calls made to Ms. Li, causing her mother-in-law to become sick and bedridden. Her husband had to sell some land in order to solve some of their daily living problems.

At around 7:30 p.m. on April 23, 2007, the Xiantai District Government Deputy directors (a man and a woman) and Han Baolin, along with several police officers from the district police station, guided by the village's accountant, stormed into Ms. Li's home. At that time, her husband was watching a video of New Tang Dynasty's Chinese New Year Spectacular while Ms. Li was cooking dinner. Han Baolin asked, "How come you guys are doing this truth clarification thing?" When he found Ms. Li, Han ordered three to four police officers to carry her to the police car. However, they were not able to do it, so Han reported the situation to the Mancheng Public Security Bureau. Han was told that he must take Ms. Li to the police station. Then Han said, "Let her say a few words in the police vehicle." Ms. Li replied, "Why don't you let me say it in public?" She then shouted, "Friends and fellow villagers, the Xiantai Police Station comes to arrest a good person who practices Falun Gong. Please come outside and witness their evil deeds!"

Within a few minutes, more than ten villagers showed up. Ms. Li instantly questioned the police, "Didn't you want to say something to me? Why don't you say it now in front of my fellow villagers and friends? By what law have you come to arrest me? I practice Falun Gong, which enables me to be healthy and a kind-hearted person. You use your authority to do whatever you want for your own selfish profit; who gave you the authority? Don't tell me it is the Chinese people who gave you the authority to do these evil things! You're the real criminals! You're the ones who know the law, but do things against the law because you persecute good people. Today, you must explain your wrongdoing in front of the people. For many years you've been storming into people's houses at night and entering people's private rooms. What else could be worse than this hooligan group!"

The perpetrators didn't say anything and kept quiet. Ms. Li's eighty-year-old mother-in-law then said, "You guys can't take her away, I don't allow you to touch her." The perpetrators changed their tactic and deceived the old lady by saying, "As long as a family member signs the paper, everything will be okay." Ms. Li's mother-in-law, afraid and under pressure, was forced to sign the paper. Then the perpetrators fled instantly. People who were concerned about the continuous persecution advised Ms. Li, "These people are not trustworthy; you're better off to leave as soon as possible." They escorted her out of the village to a safe area before returning home. It was already after 11:00 p.m.

On behalf of Li Lianshu and her family, we would like to thank those kind-hearted friends and fellow villagers for their protection. It was unfortunate that the Falun Dafa Books were confiscated. Only one book, Falun Dafa Essentials for Further Advancement, was given to Ms. Li by a righteous fellow villager. The perpetrators also confiscated a picture of Teacher, three sets of Falun Gong exercise tapes, some truth-clarification materials including the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, about 45 video disks, a recorder and a copier.

As of now, Ms. Li Lianshu has not been able to return home.
