Missouri: Mayor Mike Moeller Declares June 1, 2007 as Falun Dafa Day in the City of Maryland Heights

Whereas, Falun Dafa is a non-political self-improvement practice rooted in ancient Chinese culture that was first introduced to Missouri in 1995; and

Whereas, at the core of Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) are the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance; and

Whereas, Falun Dafa practices five gentle exercises, including meditation, exercise and study, to positively impact mental and physical health by relieving stress; and

Whereas, practitioners of Falun Dafa seek to freely share this way of improving bodies and spirits through free introductory workshops and distribution of books and exercise videotapes to public libraries and via the Internet; and

Whereas, local, state and county governments throughout North America have honored and shown their support for Falun Dafa as a positive asset that seeks to improve the quality of life for everyone;

Now Therefore, I, Mike Moeller, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Maryland Heights, Missouri, do hereby declare June 1, 2007, as

in the City of Maryland Heights and encourage citizens to learn more about the practice.
