(Clearwisdom.net) In the article "A Brief Explanation of Shan" (Essentials for Further Advancement), Master said,

"Shan is the manifestation of the nature of the universe at different levels and in different dimensions. It is also the fundamental nature of Great Enlightened Beings. Therefore, a cultivator must cultivate Shan and assimilate to the nature of the universe, Zhen-Shan-Ren."

For some time, I notice that fellow practitioner A always spoke with a loud voice. She also displayed competitiveness, jealousy, and appeared to not be open to other practitioners' ideas. I did not look within myself too much at that time. Whenever I saw her, I felt uncomfortable. Sometimes, I even avoided her.

One day, I was exchanging understandings with another practitioner. I told her about it and asked her to help me to see if I had any attachments. She said, "You do not have Shan (Compassion)." I was shocked. Thinking back, I still had competitiveness and jealousy. I competed with fellow practitioners; I fought with my husband; I criticized others when they made mistakes. In fact, all of these are part of the evil CCP (Chinese Communist Party) culture.

I was determined to change myself for the better. At home, I stopped criticizing others when I saw their shortcomings or when they did not agree with my ideas. I tried to speak in a calm and gentle manner. I tried not to argue with fellow practitioners (although sometimes I still do.) When my husband said unkind words to me, I just smiled and let it go. When I clarified the truth, I always smiled.

Progressively, I feel my compassion has emerged. Now my husband has changed. My child, also a practitioner, began to look within and use the Fa as the standard. Disagreements between practitioners were also resolved. The most obvious thing is that when you clarify the truth to people with a smile and a slow but clear voice, people are willing to accept the truth clarification materials and withdraw from the CCP.

As it turns out, when we cannot do the three things well, it's because we have not assimilated to the Fa. We only say "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance", but we do not assimilate to the nature of the universe, Truth-Compassion-Forbearance."

"If every one of you can understand the Fa from the depths of your mind, that will truly be the manifestation of the Fa whose power knows no boundary--the reappearance of the mighty Buddha Fa in the human world!" ("Cautionary Advice" from Essentials for Further Advancement)

These are my current understandings that I would like to share with fellow practitioners. I hope others who have shortcomings in this area can improve. The evil party culture is hindering our efforts to do the three things well. Please kindly point out anything inappropriate.
