5. Expose the Persecution and Clarify the Facts

On July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started a brutal persecution of Falun Gong. They fabricated the case of "Tiananmen Square Self-Immolation" and other framed cases, and spread their lies throughout the world. Falun Gong practitioners in mainland China and the rest of the world have been explaining the facts about Falun Gong and the brutal persecution by the CCP to the people of the world. They used banners, conducted demonstration parades, assemblies, candlelight vigils, reenactments of the tortures, press conferences and artistic performances, to awaken people's conscience. Taiwan practitioners are deeply affected by the suffering of their fellow practitioners in mainland China who are being brutally tortured. During the past eight years, they held many large-scale activities to explain the truth to the people in different areas and to expose the evil persecution.

In September 2001, an SOS Walk took place throughout Taiwan calling for urgent help to rescue the practitioners who are being persecuted and tortured in mainland China. They started in Taipei and Yilan on the east coast and were heading south. Along the way, local practitioners of each county joined the walk to the next district and this succession continued until everybody in this walk gathered in Gaoxiong two weeks later. During this walk, practitioners called on kind hearted people to pay attention to the persecution and help to stop the killings. The activity received attention from all levels of the local government, including congress, city councils and the people.

In order to have more Taiwanese learn the truth about Falun Gong and to stop the persecution that is happening in mainland China, Falun Gong practitioners have, since 2004, held one press conference after another. They have also held parades of vehicles demonstrating the reenactments of tortures and photo exhibitions in many places, including Taipei, Hsinchu, Taichung, Nantou, Jiayi, Tainan and Gaoxiong.

6. Supporting the Great Wave of Withdrawals from the CCP

By the end of 2004, the Epoch Times published a series of editorials titled Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. These editorials thoroughly exposed the CCP's evil nature and initiated an overwhelming global tide of Chinese withdrawing from the CCP and its affiliated organizations, with an unstoppable power. About two years ago, the number of people who publicly announced their withdrawal from the CCP and its affiliated organizations on the Epoch Times web page had reached one million. Now this number has exceeded 20 million. During the most recent four months, this number has been increasing at a rate of more than one million people per month. There is a massive Chinese populace announcing their withdrawals from the CCP by posting their announcements in public places in China. The withdrawal from the CCP has been gathering into an overwhelming tide with unstoppable power; a brand-new era is coming.

For the recent two-plus years, Taiwan practitioners have held multiple large-scale assemblies and parades, in cooperation with the tide of withdrawing from the CCP worldwide. On April 15, 2007, on the open lawn next to Hsinchu Mackay Memorial Hospital, a grand assembly and parade in the name of "A New Era of Peace: Supporting the 20 Million People Who Withdrew from the Evil CCP" was held. Four thousand people from Tai, Peng, Jin, and Ma joined this activity. In the assembly, Legislative Yuan member Lu Hsueh-Chang, Hsinchu County Council Speaker Zhang Biqin, confidential secretary Chen Shenglong, Hsinchu City Council member Hsie Hsicheng, Chang Cutan, special assistant Li Chengchiang, the director of the association of Taiwanese victims who invested in China Kao Weibang, Professor Ming Chu-chung of the Politics Department of the University of Taiwan, as well as other public figures, gave speeches condemning the atrocities of the Chinese Communist Party.

7. Condemning the Atrocities of the Chinese Communist Party Harvesting Organs from Living Falun Gong Practitioners

In the beginning of March 2006, the evil deeds of the CCP harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, selling the organs for profit and cremating the bodies in order to destroy the evidence were exposed one after another. Since then, for over a year, all levels of representative bodies in Taiwan have condemned in abundance this extremely tragic atrocity that appalled both human beings as well as divine beings. On April 18, Legislative Yuan member Lai Ching-Te (Democratic Progressive Party) initiated a temporary proposal asking the Legislative Yuan of Taiwan to reach a resolution urging international human rights organizations and the World Health Organizations to investigate the Chinese Communist Party's labor camps, prisons and medical institutes. This proposal was cosigned by 54 members of the Legislative Yuan from both parties. Then the president of the Legislative Yuan approved and delivered this proposal to the Program Committee to be included into the discussion items.

On September 26 of the same year, Legislative Yuan member Lai Ching-Te once again initiated a temporary proposal in the Legislative Yuan, calling upon the Executive Yuan to arrange a budget for providing the correct information about organ transplants to the Taiwan people. Lai Ching-Te also requested that the Legislative Yuan invite Canadian parliament members or any personage who had taken part in the investigation of the CCP's crime of harvesting organs from living people. One of the proposal's initiators, Legislative Yuan member Huang Zhao-shun (Kuomintang), expressed that the Chinese Communist Party's harvesting of organs from living human beings is very inhumane. She expressed that international organizations must get involved and must pay attention to this issue. This proposal was cosigned by 108 Legislative Yuan members.

Council members of different areas representing different counties and cities, as well as the people's representatives of different townships, also condemned, one after another, the Chinese Communist Party's torturing and killing of people. By February 18, 2007, among 23 counties and cities of Taiwan, councils of 18 counties and cities, including Chiayi County, Yilan County, Eelung City, Hualien County, Tainan City, Yunlin County, Pingtung County, Penghu County, Changhua County, Hsinchu County, Taichung City, Taitung County, Kaohsiung City, Taoyuan County, Taichung County, Miaoli County, Taipei County and Kaohsiung County, passed resolutions condemning the Chinese Communist Party's atrocity of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. The councils of the other five counties and cities are in the process of cosigning the resolutions.

On December 19, 2006, the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China (CIPFG) held a press conference at the Taiwan Legislative Yuan and announced the establishment of the Asian Branch of CIPFG. The people who attended this press conference included Taiwan Legislative Yuan members Tien Chiu-Chin and Chai Trong-Rong, human rights lawyer Chiu Huangchuan, former director of the Department of Health Dr. Tu Hsing-che and other personage with significant social status. The president of the CIPFG Asian Branch, Lai Ching-Te, who is a doctor and a member of the Legislative Yuan, expressed that Falun Gong practitioners had suffered from persecution and torture for more than seven years and their organs were even harvested while still alive. In order to guard basic human rights, CIPFG demands to enter China immediately to conduct unconstrained investigations and demands that the Chinese Communist Party immediately stops this extremely tragic crime.

CIPFG, which was established in April 2006, has at present 301 outstanding personage from all walks of life worldwide. They hope to work with the righteous forces of societies worldwide, and to go into China to conduct independent and direct investigations without any interference, to collect evidence of the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and to end the persecution soon. There are more than 100 Legislative Committee members, congressional people and lawyers who have stood up for justice and joined the CIPFG.

The president of CIPFG Asian Branch Lai Ching-Te and vice-president director Chiu Huangchuan signed their names to the open letter to the officials of the Chinese Communist Party and the letter was sent out that same day by registered mail.
